RAD: Big Wild Rancher in These Foolish Things

I’m going to consider last night’s dinner our first date - even though it was an event he was going to attend anyway…

Name: Big Wild Rancher

Introduction Platform: My friend Maria with the extremely dramatic set-up! Read back a few entries if you don’t know the back story.

Age: 61

Relationship Status: Never married; one son who I believe is in his 20s

Job: Runs a very large cattle ranch

Lives: On a gigantic ranch in a teeny tiny town an hour and a half north of me

Length of Date: All night

We Did: Attended the client appreciation dinner of Maria’s daughter’s financial firm. It was impressive! Maria’s daughter is so well spoken and wicked smart. Dinner and drinks. Met Big Wild Rancher’s little brother, who looks just like BWR only less rugged. Schmoozed all the financial folks and in the end, get this…I met another dinner attendee, a guy who had dissected his carotid artery JUST LIKE I DID! Not only that, he did it at ORANGETHEORY as well!! You guys…this is truly like finding your soulmate in a way. Because, first of all, the injury is so rare and to have it happen to both of us while we were doing the exact same thing is absolutely a miracle. I should write a whole entry about this. Anyway, wild!!

He Looked: He’s rugged and rough around the edges, but he looked very well put together in his colorful shirt, jeans, boots. He is bald and has gray facial hair. Looks like what you think a rancher would look like.

I Looked: I was stumped for what to wear, but I ended up wearing a nice fitted shift dress in a menswear kind of fabric and also wore my Valentino Rockstud dupes that are actually the most comfortable pumps I own.

Convo: Some financial talk at dinner and then some silly talk after the dinner. We talked about Scorpio (me) and Sagittarius (him) relationships, his ex-GF who was so controlling that she’d even tell him how much toothpaste to put on the brush! He told me that he told his brother that I was his girlfriend so that it wouldn’t look weird that he was coming home with me.

High Point: Realizing that I am interested in getting to know him much, much more. Making out in my bed.

Low Point: I dunno. I realize that there are some things about him that might be considered yellow flaggy, but let’s just do some more investigation, shall we?

How It Ended: We had to get out of my apartment by 7am in order to avoid a parking ticket

Chances Are: We’re making plans to go to the fair in the next couple of weeks, so pretty damn sure I will see him even though we live so far apart and our Octobers are both very busy. He’s got car races and he’s selling cars and such all month and I have work travel and vacation at the end of the month, but we’re going to try!

Date Rating: A- (the minus only because I felt very self conscious for some reason)
