August 16th - Counting Down When Time Is Frozen in Posso's Prompts

I spend a lot of time writing shitty poetry that I make private just to have down in a place so I don’t have a mess of half filled notebooks like I already do. This one, just felt like it was okay to put out there. I smelled a campfire, looked at the full moon over the tree line in my backyard and was trying to figure out what I do with my freedom from house arrest tomorrow while going through writings.

What do you do when you still can’t let go
When there’s someone else ready to love you
You’re tired and older yet you already know
She’s let go with youth, drugs, and what you put her through

Stare at the night sky long enough
The stars shine brighter than your open mouthed smile
Even the breeze brings memories that are rough
Like after you would leave, your scent would linger for awhile

You said it to me more than I ever heard
“I wish I could be everything that you need because
I care about you more than I can express in words”
But someone didn’t really take heed to that buzz
Once that happened, she spread her wings like a songbird
Something she became when hurt, took off without a pause

Time has passed, come and gone, and I had to change
Not for anyone else, I needed to find me
Was tired of feeling hurt, suppressing the rage
Painful admissions, but then maybe someone would see
Couldn’t wait for us to fix ourselves, let each other out of the cage
You will always have my love though, my heart and soul agree
