Ridiculously Magical Morning in These Foolish Things

There’s something really special about today. I don’t know if it’s in the stars or what, but today feels just magical. Let me tell you about it so far....

Got up early after a decent night’s sleep. Would have been a GREAT night’s sleep, but I’m still working through some sleep issues I’ve been having since I’m on new meds and such. Still, it was very nice to have some good deep sleep and even some interesting dreams about travel and faraway places.

Because the weather’s been so damn hot lately I’ve been trying to walk the dog in the mornings before work. Sometimes close to my office and sometimes close to home, depending on whether or not I would take her to daycare. This morning we walked over to the park and then over to the fancy Starbucks and a couple of amazing things happened.

First, at the park, we ran into Willie. He’s an older gentleman who works security at the city park. I met him when I’d just gotten out of the hospital and took a few days off work to start my injury recovery process. He’s suuuuuch a nice guy and always says hello and chats for a moment, but today felt different. Today he made a BIG deal out of seeing me and Martini and he hugged me as soon as we saw each other. We chatted for quite a while and even though I was on a schedule, I decided to slow down and make sure that we got to catch up for a while. He asked about my health and I told him I was doing much better and he hugged me again. He hugged me two more times before our conversation was over.

Then, we made our way to the fancy Starbucks. When I walked in with the dog it was like…magic. I know that sounds absolutely ridiculous, but it’s the ONLY way I can describe it. Every single person smiled at me and wanted to pet the dog. The barista asked me how I was doing and told me how awesome my hair looked. I complimented her back and chatted with the other folks behind the counter. And when my drink was ready, the barista came around the counter and personally handed me my drink and gave me a HUG and said, “it’s so good to see you, Ginger…have a wonderful day!”

Right?! RIGHT??!

Walked home and got the dog ready for daycare and when we arrived, there was a lady I see all the time dropping her dog off, not really paying attention, but when I said hello to everyone and handed Martini’s leash over to the staff, she turned and said she knew it was me because of my sweet, happy voice and noted that not many people are as happy as I am in the morning!

I said that it was a wonderful day and that I’d gotten so many hugs already and she then turned to me and said, “Well, then let ME hug you!”

And she did!

See?!

I decided that it was suuuuuch an incredible day that I drove with the top down all the way to work. Another music-blasting, car-dancing, singing at the top of my lungs, fantastic kind of morning!

When I got to work, I saw my sweet friend Joanna who takes care of my dog when I travel and she asked me how I was feeling and I told her how wonderful and well I felt and told her that I needed to give her a hug. She hugged me tightly and warmly.

I know you guys. I KNOW that I sound like one of those weirdo crazy annoying morning people, but it was suuuuch a special morning and I’m basking in this sunshine right now. I just wanted to document this amazing moment in time.

Life is beautiful. How did I possibly get so lucky?

Once again, gratefully yours,
GS
