Well, well. Happy Thursday!

Here’s a couple of work updates since I last wrote:

Poop Scandal Continues: Pulled up to the office yesterday to see the Roto Rooter van in front of the building. Guess what that means? The mad pooper is back? At least that’s what I thought. What the hell, man? But turns out that it was a women’s bathroom issue this time and I guess what all of that means is that maybe…just maybe it’s our building and not some poor sap with crappy craps (ha!). But honestly, I don’t believe it’s just our plumbing. Who would crawl UNDER the closed-off areas to take a dump in a broken toilet? So who knows. The mystery continues I guess.

Boss is an ICON?! You guys. Remember how much I’ve complained about Boss? And then I’ve told you that he’s just about to be fired because of his side hustle that is/was a serious, serious conflict of interest (including using company resources to potentially build something in direct competition)? And yet, the man has staying power that is SO fucking strong that he’s won an INDUSTRY ICON AWARD!!??!!! That’s right. He’s going to be featured in an industry magazine and get some kind of award and national recognition. We’re going to honor him tomorrow with some kind of party over in the executive area. So there you go. It just goes to show that it isn’t about being honest, now is it? It’s about getting notoriety. This is 100% why I will continue to toot my own horn and be the squeaky wheel as much as I can from here on out.

I will say as an aside that Boss is still being especially kind to me since my injury, so I can’t really complain. What I’m saying above is an observation from an ethical standpoint. So. I don’t really know what the fuck I’m saying. Just writing down the facts as I see ‘em.

Booking the Grand Birthday Celebration! While at the office this week I’ve found time here and there to continue working through booking the Grand Canyon trip and getting super excited! Did I tell you that [Athena] is going with me on this adventure? As it stands right now, we’ll fly into Las Vegas and have one day there, then drive to Hoover Dam and then on to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where we’ll stay at El Tovar (right on the rim!)…do a rafting trip (smoothwater), catch the sunrises and sunsets and then on to Sedona where we’ll stay at Enchantment and just be completely enchanted by the scenery! I’m glad I have the big stuff booked and we can fill in the smaller parts as it gets closer to time…just nice to know it’s getting planned and I will be submitting a vacation request SOON! [tiny squeal]

Not really work related, of course…except for the fact that much of this was done at the office (shame on me).

Work Travel: So, before the fun stuff I’ll be going to visit a factory (right here in the good ol’ US of A, if you can believe it! It’s actually at an R&D center, so that’s super cool) in late September or early October, then I’ll be going to the Furniture Market in High Point (for those of you who know the furniture and home decor industry) in later October. And THEN the vacation will happen.

Labor Day Weekend: But OH! There is a work holiday as well between now and then, isn’t there?! Did I tell you I’m taking the dog on a solo road trip to a shipping container resort of sorts? I’m beyond excited to just hang out for a couple of days just me and the dog. Won’t that be a unique experience - ha! Not like we don’t do that every weekend…but this will be different in that we will be away from home and I’ve never taken the dog on a road trip. It’s not too far - only 3.5 hours away, but it will be a very different experience for the two of us. I know, I know. I speak about my dog as if she is my child or companion. And she is. So that’s why. :)

So. I better get going for now. I need to finalize a couple of emails before I close up shop, but I just wanted to write a quick update. Wish I had more sexy things to discuss, but I hope to be able to do that in my next entry!

Stay tuned,
GS
