51 Weeks! On the Downward Slide in Everyday Ramblings

Yesterday was quiet. After inviting me over for lunch and a walk yesterday Mrs. Sherlock woke up too tired for any of it. I had already indicated just a walk was fine and I am glad I did because I am happy she took the day for herself. In the afternoon I went for a slow loop walk up back behind my place listening to a Dharma talk that was peaceful and grounding.

When I came down around into the lilac garden I noticed these healthy rogue lilies in the beds. The lilac blooms are long gone and the garden was empty except for clothes and trash left on the benches. There are clothes and trash on and around all the public benches these days. I find it sad.

Most Honorable found this relatively inexpensive app called Nebo that lets me write out things by hand with the Apple Pencil and then easily, super easily translate them into text and then one can copy them into a program say, oh, like Prosebox or 750 Words. I love it!

The only translation issue is that it thinks my f is an F and there was much thinking yesterday about how to make an f that translates correctly. It seems as if one starts at the top of the candy cane that it reads it as a lowercase f. We are talking printing here. It reads a cursive f just fine if the loop is flat and not round like a cursive lower case b.

The things we take for granted! And the amazing things machines can do.

Yuck, I just had this meeting with Mr. On the Spectrum, his boss (who I get along with) and the HR guy. Apparently Mr. On the Spectrum was sick, he said something terse at the beginning about not wanting to cough but towards the end of the meeting he got visibly mad at me and told me it was none of my business if Motorcycle Man works on the clock or off it. In front of his boss! What kind of manager talks to their employee like that?

…Even if it is none of my business… and it actually is if they want me to take on the work.

Everybody says they hired Motorcycle Man because he was the most qualified applicant for the job. Boy have I heard that one before.

Is anybody reading or listening to E. Jean Carroll’s What Do We Need Men For? It is funny, and dark and sad and packs a wallop. She reads the audiobook. She reminds me a lot of a less dumbed down version of Phyllis Diller. She makes you laugh when all you want to do is cry. I am about halfway through it.

The guys were implying that the communication problem with Motorcycle Man was my fault and that I need to work to fix it.

Nah. I think not.

There is another one of these meetings scheduled for next week. I might add that no one inquired after my health.

Which is fine. 51 weeks and counting!

I decided this morning that I wasn’t going to listen to any news, only stuff about yoga. It is absolutely not that I am sticking my head in the sand, I am engaged but with my health and the stupid job I am thinking I need more slow walks and news only on a need to know, or can do something about basis.

I like knowing that you are protecting your health now and in the weeks to come. I'm sorry I'm not privy to you brave stance at work -- I overlooked too much.

That's a very good strategy - trust me you won't miss anything big - I haven't watched the news for years but the big stuff manages to filter through in other ways. Is that just a year to retirement now?

AAGGGHHH to the workplace. Good for you for standing your ground amidst the insanity!

I had not heard about Nebo - definitely checking that out!

Such male arrogance, I don't know how you keep from screaming! I hope these are the quickest 51 weeks of your life.
