“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” This quote has been attributed to Theodore Roosevelt. If you google the phrase you will see it also attributed to Rick Warren and Max Lucado. Like so much of our “online news,” we take the first results from our beloved search engine that satisfies our logic.
One of the things that irritates me is all the 24/7 fake news that people will post as truth. Granted some days it is hard to discern the real from the fake and Facebook is no help. Of course, I look at Fakebook (yes my name for it) more as a source of entertainment than truth. Much like a dating site, you have to weed out the weirdos, wackjobs, and your friends that are just too stupid or too lazy to verify what they post on their page!
My Facebook Page is just that…mine. The opinions and views expressed on my page are just that, my opinions and views, but I do not take that responsibility lightly. It is a reflection of who I am and what I believe. It doesn’t mean I am right, but they are my convictions.
And then you have the conspiracy theorist. That wacky paranoid, paranormal, who still thinks Elvis is alive, Oswald acted alone, and the Bermuda Triangle is a passageway into another time and dimension.
Like Sgt Joe Friday, I just want the facts. (and a look at the book of secrets that each U.S. President has.) On second thought, maybe not. I like to sleep at night and knowing some of the things we have done in the name of freedom might prevent that. Or as another famous Roosevelt said, “Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”.
