Oh, the depths of our stupidity. in Life After 60

Our Society, by large will be extinct in another generation or two. Mighty bold talk for such a little pilgrim? Sorry, I was channeling the Duke. (Wayne, not Ellington) Back to reality. The statement still remains true.
Case in point. When I was growing up Looney Tunes were the best. Nothing more exciting and entertaining than watching Bugs and Daffy go at each other in “Duck, Rabbit, Duck”. Or perhaps Marvin The Martian. And let’s not forget Foghorn Leghorn. What do these have in common? Violence. Yeah, you read that correctly. If you happen to view these cartoons on a major network in the later years they removed the frames where Elmer would shoot Daffy’s face off. Too violent for today’s children!
Lord help. Have we raised a generation of idiots? Now you must include a disclaimer: Don’t try this at home! My kids were raised on these and I never once had to look at them and say, Child of mine, do not try this! My kids knew better. Why? I guess they were just born smarter than the average kid these days.
Or better yet. Gun control! Oh, there’s a hot topic. More gun laws to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Really? Yeah, if you pass those laws the criminals will not be able to get their hands on a gun. You have to be some kind of (really, special,) stupid to believe that. My dad taught me about gun control. Hit what you aim at. Number one rule of gun safety, treat the gun as if it is always loaded. Number two, never point a gun at anything you don’t intend to kill. I didn’t need a picture to explain it.
I fear for my unborn great-great-grandchildren whom I will never see. They will be born into a world that is totally void of common sense. This week we are experiencing major flooding in our area. How many times must we tell people, turn around don’t drown? Nope, the idiots just keep right on driving around the roadblocks into the deep running water. And you wonder why you are now stranded in the middle of a raging river. I’m sorry the educational system and society failed to teach you to READ. It is true it takes a village, but Lord help some of our villages are letting the idiots roam free! And at my age, I have no tolerance for Stupid.

You seem to care too much about the idiot decisions people make. If it effects your life, then cool, if not.. then sleep with a smile on your face. Most things people do these days are dumb, indeed, but there are still handfuls of us out there that are still intelligent and run a pretty ship-shape life at home, at work, and with those in our community and church. I'm 33, i have foster kids, lived in 5 states, 2 countries, and have quiet literally been around the world 2 times from Russia, to China, moved West USA to East (2 times in a Uhaul) and have owned 3 homes. I have done more at 33 then most at 60 and retiring. I see the dumbness everywhere, the ignorance is staggering, and the fact that people don't understand basic things in life is mind numbing. But i have learned through all this, that their ARE plenty of actual "wow" parents, and young adults that are making good choices and doing good things daily around them for themselves and others, teaching great values and common sense to their kids. If all you see is trailer trash around you, then you need to move out of the trailer park.

I care when those idiot decisions affect my health and well being or those of the people who have to put their lives on the line to pull them out of a dangerous situation like the flood waters they want to drive into. I am glad you have done so much at your age. Enjoy life to the fullest. Even at my age I still prescribe to that philosophy. Thanks for your comments and for stopping by.
