I remember the very first photoshoot my sisters and I put on. I believe I was in 7th grade. It was the time was mostly spent on social media especially Instagram. Boy, was I obsessed with keeping up with my feed. But anyway, Olivia, my older sister, had the idea to do a photoshoot one day. We got dressed in all black, caked on super dramatic, hideous makeup (when I say hideous I’m talking bluish purple “just got punched in the face” eyeshadow. It was bad… and we paired it with bright red lipstick. Don’t ask me why this seemed like a good idea. I thought it was cool at the time.) We then found my Dad’s Nikon D50 and shot photos of each other throwing peace signs at the camera using a white bedsheets as a backdrop. Olivia taught me some other poses too. She told me to hook my index finger and bight it like Kelly Clarkson on her Breakaway album cover. It didn’t quite turn out the way we expected but hey I tried. Did I mention this was the period of the duck face?? Duck faces were everywhere, it wasn’t often that you’d see someone posing with a smile on their face. In a duck face, the lips had to be pursed together just right to make it look “cool.” What a time. After we cleaned up I uploaded the photos off of the SD card and posted one on google+. I’m not sure if I ever took it down but I should probably look into that. It was not a pretty sight. I thought it was social media worthy, I mean what was I supposed to know? I was in 7th grade.
