Why are you washing a single shirt? in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I’m washing the single shirt because it’s a nice dress shirt and it says wash separately, I’m wearing it to the expo this weekend. His response: I think if you paid half of the bills you wouldn’t do these kind of things. The response I wanted to say.....Well when I’m able to pay half the bills I may not even be living here.... and the washer senses how large the load is and how much water to use.... My actual response… stand and listen and then walk away because lord knows if I say anything it will turn into a fight for two days.
