Spirals in Dear love

Dear love,

I see your cycles. I see the drowning waters that you churn for me, adrift on a sea of your design. Drown in me, you whisper. Your mouth is an open invitation to suffering.

Fall back in, you beg. You warn me with bright colours and promises of friendship. Details of a life where we love so strongly but independently that I believe. Flower petal promises line the bed you tell me you can share without love. Fingers lace into mine, a siren’s song from your whispers.

It isn’t until I haven’t been able to breathe too long I notice I’m drowning in your sea. You’re the kraken to my ship, splintering and shattering what keeps me afloat for your delight. Sometimes I think you tear it apart to see if I can swim. The rest of the time I know it’s because you can’t help it. You were designed to be a monster.

Can you blame the predator who sees all things as prey? Can you scold him? Ask him not to bite you? Are you the one to blame when you tried to play with the beast and got bloody when he fucked you?

I see you, love. I see your poison and your beauty. But mostly now I see my blood and your taste for it.

Sincerely,
Sanguine
