Hello! I’m home from my trade show! It was a fast and furious week as this week tends to be every year, and I’m relieved and sad at the same time - and there’s always so much follow up afterwards. But today I’m not stressing out. The office is pretty quiet and the only rushing I had to do was to move some product around in our warehouse (for 2.5 hours!) so that the carpet cleaners could come to the office over the weekend.
The next phase of TLIC was very well received by the industry at the show, and I’m ready for this line to hit $3MM by the end of this year! I call that a success. I know industries are vastly different and how do you even compare success? For example, I have been part of product launches that hit $45MM at the end of year 1, but that was also with a massive team of individuals and this “team” is me and Boss. So honestly, I’d say that’s not too shabby.
By the way, I was absolutely blown away by this: Boss gave me several compliments over the course of the trade show! And yes, I realize what I’m saying. While I’m still utterly frustrated for the most part, it was so very, very amazing to hear - acknowledgment goes a long, long, loooong way with me. I don’t think I’m alone in this, right?
And of course, as I was about to board the plane back home I got a text from Boss telling me that I did a nice job but to make sure “we” follow up and keep the momentum going. Heh. Backhanded. I’ll still take it.
So yeah, I’m back. Had a few grueling days and a couple of lovely dinners out - including a super fancy-schmancy dinner at “The Ritz” with some very important buyers. It’s been a minute since I’ve done one of those schmoozy dinners. I used to do them all the time and I’d kind of forgotten what it’s like to eat on a fat expense account - especially since our company is adamant about saving as many pennies as possible…unless you’re a salesperson, and then it’s wine em, dine em, sixty-nine em. Right? I was happy to get in on that action and I didn’t even have to do the performing as the buyers weren’t even responsible for my product categories. Honestly, I was shocked that I got an invitation.
Anyyyyway, AND our company had a little champagne happy hour on the second day and that was a special surprise. Funny to see the drunks who didn’t have much interest in anything but guzzling booze show up by the droves. Meanwhile, some VIPs also showed up at the same time, so I was able to give a quick dog-n-pony show with a flute of champagne in my hand. That was quite fun!
And my two suitors texted throughout the week this week. I loved sending them photos of what I was doing and seeing and they both seemed genuinely interested. I’d say I had just as much fun texting Chef K as I did Dr. D. I will say that Chef K wins this week as he’s already asked me to our now-regular Sunday brunch! I’m looking forward to the following this weekend:
- Nothing tonight - maybe Netflix and Chill with Martini
- Workout, clean and relax tomorrow during what’s supposed to be a rainy Saturday
- Brunch with Chef K on Sunday!
That’s IT!!! Doesn’t it sound dreamy?
I have more to write, but I think I’m gonna get out of the office now. It’s dead in here.
xox,
GS
