Impromptu in These Foolish Things

Happy Friday! It’s finally here! Not any big deal, really since I have another HUGE PPT presentation to work on for next week’s big sales meeting, but I’m just glad it’s here anyway.

Yesterday’s financial presentations were passionate and TOUGH! This is why I make the big bucks (heh) because I felt like every cell of my body was exhausted after that beating. And the funny thing is, Brown Nosey, Golden Boy AND Eddie Haskell all came by my desk afterwards to tell me how GREAT the presentations were (???)! What the fuck is that?

I was thinking that I couldn’t wait to go home and just flop into bed, but I got a text from Dr. D inviting me over to see his new house and have a glass of wine. I told him I had my dog with me and if it was okay to bring her, I’d love to come over. I mean, I was tired, but who doesn’t want to see how a guy’s bachelor pad is coming along, right?

He said he’d leave his two dogs at his “other” house so it would be fine to bring Martini over…and that was that! Soon I was on my way to the doc’s house. See? I can be spontaneous sometimes! :)

And here I thought he’s be out having a romantic Valentine’s Day with someone else.

He lives in this brand new development that’s still very much under construction. It’s right off a city trail (bonus…but it’s not the one that I normally take - would be very interesting to check out), and these houses are nearly stacked on top of each other, almost zero lot line, but not quite. Not sure I love the look of them and they’re quite expensive. But I will say, for a bachelor, they’re pretty sweet.

Funny thing is, they are very modern and at night, though the house numbers are very large and visible, they make a shadow that makes the numbers hard to read. So I went to the wrong house to begin with and rang the doorbell and some woman answered the door. SO embarrassing and I was there with the dog who wanted to bound into the house immediately! Luckily, the woman was so sweet and she just laughed it off.

Finally made my way 2 houses down and found Dr. D’s place. He welcomed me in and had champagne ready as well as a whole cheese and charcuterie board prepped - and some meatballs as well! Impressive.

And the house is very nice! He’s started to buy new furniture and decorate (I’m guessing his old house was much more traditional and you simply can’t have traditional furniture in these places). I was impressed with his style. I’m thinking he’s had some help. And he was telling me about artwork and other decor he’s planning on buying. Very nice. Very sleek and quite sexy.

He showed me around and the we let the dog run around the house, sniffing for his dogs and stealing their greenies (ha!). Doc gave her some treats and she fell in love with him - she knows who the animal lovers are.

But here’s where it gets tricky, guys. Eventually, his attention turned to me, and he kissed me deeply. A couple of times.

…and I just wasn’t into it.

UGGGHHH! How can this possibly be? I can tell he’s into me! I’ve seen him three times since Sunday. I like him SO much. And yet, I was almost surprised by those kisses and I pulled back! What is wrong with me????

I really dig this guy - he’s got so much going for him. Mostly, right now, that he lives 15 minutes from me. I’m hoping it’s just that I was still stressed out after the workday that I couldn’t get into it, but I’m just not sure.

I’ve already invited him out and made reservations for Wednesday night to celebrate his birthday, so I’ll be seeing him again. Maybe we’ll see then.

Update on The Scot: he got his bloodwork back and he has an iron deficiency and is suffering from exhaustion. He says he’s lost 2 stone (nearly 30#) in the last 7 months! I mean WOW! His doctor told him to stop burning himself out at work - he’s heading for a breakdown.

Meanwhile, our texts have died way down. They don’t seem to be that romantic anymore. I texted a cute Valentine wish to him yesterday and he wrote back hours and hours later about how he’d forgotten it was V. Day until all of the women in his office started getting flowers and candy delivered. Nothing remotely romantic to me at all.

Oh well. I mean, what can we do? He’s near death and I’m trying to get the feels for my new doctor friend.

I guess time will tell.

OK. Off to meeting…
