About Writing in Life

As with most hobbyists someday I would like to publish again.
but for real
not in a journal or a magazine
not part of some compilation
I want to complete a whole book of fluffy fiction.
This will necessitate my writing again with regularity, which hasn’t happened in a decade.
It will also require me to actually finish a story, which hasn’t happened since childhood.

I am starting with writing prompts.
Though I despise the self-help genre I purchased 10 writing support books.
I deem 5 of these to offer potential for initial endeavors.

Here are the rules, because the world loves rules:
1. I will write some portion of 3 prompts each week barring weirdo circumstances and holidays.
2. I will generate 3 original prompts each week for current or future use.
3. I will make peace with the unfinished given that most of these will not speak to my would-be serial fiction.
4. I will get over myself and accept that 99 in 100 submissions will be crap.
5. I will internalize acceptance for brevity, inanity, and yes crap because right now it is about establishing a habit.

Ah, and to credit the tools:
1. 101 Fantasy Writing Prompts, Volume 1, by J. Dodson
2. 500 Science Fiction and Fantasy Writing Prompts, by Julie Wenzel
3. Fantasy Writing Prompts, by Rayne Hall
4. Prompt Me Sci-Fi & Fantasy, by Robin Woods
5. The Ultimate RPG Character Backstory Guide (Table of Contents Only), by James D’Amato

Jeez they’re mostly chicks. I swear that was not deliberate.

Fantastic ideas and yes writing regularly works out that lovely muscle until once more it is as strong in execution as the desire is to use it. Flex away!

You enjoy Sci Fi and Fantasy?

Thank you.

Yes, sci-fi and fantasy are my happy place.
I am not as well versed as some, but seem to need a regular fix or get mopey.
Also, not quite up to CosPlay or LARP, but I have gone to Star Trek conventions.
They are a hoot.
I would like to go to a CON sometime, but mostly I am good watching and reading at home.
You?
