Why have I never read The Handmaid’s Tale? I’ve been on a bit of a reading kick again lately- Warlight, There There, Between The World and Me, Underground Railroad- all fine, fine books and very enriching. But The Handmaid’s Tale? I’m about a third of the way into it, and I’m blown away by the premise. Dystopian stories always interest me anyway, and this one is a doozy. The blend of theocratic totalitarianism and gender roles- and the rigid class system of both sexes- as well as the twisted Puritanical view of sex itself.... it even has a WALL!! I’m seeing why this story is so timely in the era of Trump, as has been so often mentioned. I’m looking forward to seeing where this tale takes me. I know the series on Hulu has been all the rage among critics and fans alike- I’m going to have to check that out once I finish the book. I love Elisabeth Moss- Mad Men is one of my all-time favorites- definitely going to have to check that out.

The Handmaid's Tale is an excellent book. The Hulu adaptation was well done. If you enjoy Margaret Atwood's writing I can also recommend the MadAddam trilogy and Alias Grace (which was turned into a Netflix series.)
