This is from the Washington Post. The items in quotes are from the Congressional bill/resolution.

*The resolution in Congress from Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) calls for a “10-year national mobilization” that would include:

“Guaranteeing a job with a family-sustaining wage, adequate family and medical leave, paid vacations, and retirement security to all people of the United States.”

“Providing all people of the United States with — (i) high-quality health care; (ii) affordable, safe, and adequate housing; (iii) economic security; and (iv) access to clean water, clean air, healthy and affordable food, and nature.”

“Providing resources, training, and high-quality education, including higher education, to all people of the United States.”

“Meeting 100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources.”

“Repairing and upgrading the infrastructure in the United States, including . . . by eliminating pollution and greenhouse gas emissions as much as technologically feasible.”

“Building or upgrading to energy-efficient, distributed, and ‘smart’ power grids, and working to ensure affordable access to electricity.”

“Upgrading all existing buildings in the United States and building new buildings to achieve maximal energy efficiency, water efficiency, safety, affordability, comfort, and durability, including through electrification.”

“Overhauling transportation systems in the United States to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector as much as is technologically feasible, including through investment in — (i) zero-emission vehicle infrastructure and manufacturing; (ii) clean, affordable, and accessible public transportation; and (iii) high-speed rail.”

“Spurring massive growth in clean manufacturing in the United States and removing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing and industry as much as is technologically feasible.”

“Working collaboratively with farmers and ranchers in the United States to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector as much as is technologically feasible.” *

I don’t know what to say. These are goals that we need to be working toward, but are they possible?

What do you think?

Fascinating, thank you. I like this quote: "If we were to mobilize around the climate problem the way we mobilized around the fight against Germany and Japan, then we could possibly do this.”

This is not possible and will ruin the economy through high taxes. Money is created out of the air and charged interest, and high taxes will slow the process of money creation because businesses create the most money. The only way this happens is if we eliminate money and do something like the Venus Project. I am against the government controlling everything. Socialism does not work because the government will ration everything. Next thing you know, you do not have any medication, have to get permission from the government to see a doctor, less food, and so on. The hard part is everything is produced or uses oil from your vitamins to your shampoo--even your toothbrush and toothpaste.

I agree with all of these points. Implementation however, would be a task so daunting as to be unimaginable by many people.
(I approach these concepts as an engineer would, not as a politician).

That's quite a list

And how do they expect to do this? Where are they getting the flying pigs?

I would be interested in reading all of the op-Ed articles that criticized and doubted the feasibility of landing a man on the moon...

This may all be “too much”, but the reality is, if we don’t mobilize all we can in these directions, our children and their children have a terrifying vision of the future to look forward to.

I like adding in the free childcare for all that Elizabeth Warren is advocating to the picture. :)

No, it's not possible, as written. Certainly some of these are worthy goals to aim for. But if AOC is serious about some of this then she is out of her ever-loving mind.

Nice goals, but not possible under capitalism. Sustaining life and liberty is not profitable for corporations.

What absolute socialist nonsense. Why don't we task someone to be santa clause and deliver gifts to everyone each year while we are at it?

The deal as penned is a non starter from the get-go especially under this administration. The politics behind it (from both sides) are what is fascinating/terrifying.
AOC and the Progressive Base want this to be the platform for the 2020 Democrat Presidential Run.
McConnell wants this to be the platform for the 2020 Democrat Presidential Run. And when your enemy agrees with you, it is time to reconsider.

The United States spin machines excel at calling the listed program "socialism". If the item, in total, is adopted as "The goals of the Left" I think too many independents and centrists will not vote Democrat in 2020. And non-participation in voting results in a Trump victory... which is why Mitch McConnell was so fast to order a vote on the GND. He wants to set the Democrats up for the campaign. Imagine Warren voted for it and Harris didn't. Warren could beat up Harris in the caucus debates by saying "You didn't support the Green New Deal" and then Trump could beat up Warrein in the election debates by saying "You did support the Green New Deal." That's where my primary concern is.
