Pickle in Everyday Musings of a Very Tired Mama

So Pickle is 5 and he has been struggling with speech and behavior issues for over a year. In October, mention was made about autism, or ASD. And wow, it makes so much sense when I consider that in context of his behavior. He gets fixated on things, and doesn’t seem to understand feelings or social cues. He is super high functioning, but I am starting to think mainstream school may not be right for him. We are trying to get a scholarship for a special school next year, but we are also thinking about homeschooling him. I would love to do this but it scares me because what if I had to go back to work because of money issues? The OT Babe is working cannot continue forever, but we couldn’t make it without that. He is working on getting some IT certifications but that is slow going, slower than I would like. And how do I homeschool with Booboo needing attention? Is that even doable? Pickle has a hard enough time focusing on stuff without a possible interruption.
This is what is on my mind this Sunday morning before Christmas. At church today I sincerely hope the message speaks to me on this topic. I stepped out on faith when I quit my job…maybe I have to step out on faith with the homeschooling issues as well.
