NJM18 - 3: Buck's Fizz in These Foolish Things

Glorious Saturday! The weather is absolutely stunning and I’ve had a fantastic morning and afternoon so far.

Began the day with a FaceTime with The Scot. I swear to you, I never stop laughing when we speak with each other. He’s truly the funniest person I’ve ever known. And I don’t know if it’s because we still have a little bit of nerves with each other or if it’s that he is simply beyond doubling-over-with-laughter funny. I suspect it’s the latter. I just love talking with him. I can’t imagine ever tiring of it. We facetimed for about 45 minutes and then I had to leave for the gym.

However, I ended up skipping my workout but it wasn’t my fault. Bicycle race through downtown blocked all access to my gym! So what normally would have taken me 5 minutes was taking me 30+ minutes and since Orangetheory classes are timed, you’re not allowed to join if you’re 10 minutes late. Normally that would result in a fine, but because I was desperately and legitimately trying to get there, they decided to be nice at the front desk and not dock me. I was thankful.

So I decided to take Martini on an extra long walk that included several city parks and then the farmers market…all the while sending messages and photos back and forth with The Scot. We really message each other a LOT.

Ran into so many people at the market: Tracey, my neighbor…who I invited to go with me to my gym. THEN ran into more gym folks: a couple who work out with me at 4:30am on MWF. Surprised they recognized me, but then again I’m not because I was still in my workout garb! Remember Jolly Old Elf? My neighbor I’d gone on a couple of dates with a few months ago but sent to the friend zone? Yeah, we hang out every now and then and he showed up at the market so we ate lunch together. Talked to a few more people…discovered a Buck’s Fizz stand along the way.

I also discovered what a Buck’s Fizz is earlier in the morning when I was telling The Scot a story about our brunches and drinking Mimosas. He didn’t know what a mimosa was, but once I told him champagne and orange juice he was all, “OH…that’s a Bucks Fizz!!” I absolutely adore learning things like that. I’ve been to the UK probably 50 times and had never known that little bit of information. How is this even possible?

Anyway, great time at the farmers market and now home. I’m resting a bit and cleaning up before heading out later this evening to a really fun art event downtown. It’s a several-blocks wide art festival that will include interactive installations, light shows and other amazing things that will likely be highly instagrammable. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be taking the dog and I’m thinking that the J.O.E. may tag along.

We’ll see. Off to clean and work on resume stuff (CV for you Brits - ha!). So much to do…so little time.

xox,
GS
