October is almost gone. Homes here are beginning to glow with witches, black cats, orange lights, and other Halloween décor. Popup stores can be found in every neighborhood sporting giant Halloween signs. There’s a family at the end of our building that has even decorated their roof. We cheer them on.

But we don’t participate. There are few kids in our neighborhood. Sometimes hundreds are bussed in, but we don’t hand out goodies to any of them. We don’t need the wonderful chocolates tempting us. Invariably, we eat every one that’s left over.

So we are the Grumpies for this holiday. It’s better than being the Gordo’s.*

*Gordo according to Google means Fat.

  • Himself: His work is light today, and no work tomorrow as they are having a big party.

  • Myself: Enjoyed working on the shelves yesterday but know my chair was in the way.

  • Reading: ”Young Mrs. Savage,” another D. E. Stevenson. The spine is attached by layers of tape, and the pages are so brittle they tear them when I turn them. I know it is going to have a happy ending, but I still want to read it.

  • Gratitude’s: The ladies at work, Robin for her drawings on Facebook, G for everything.

We don't me i Halloween, either. I haven't for years. Though every year I get a craving for two Halloween treats: candy corn and those black and orange waxed paper wrapped peanut butter taffies.

I never put up Hallowe'en decorations but still get loads of kids so I'm organised with loads of candy this year. What's the bet nobody rings that bell??! :D

We stopped doing Halloween because of exactly that ; they bus in hundreds of kids into our subdivision that do not live here . It starts at 5 PM and ends at 8 . I can easily go through $200.00 worth of candy ( and I have ) and still run out before 8 . I think that is ridiculous . Besides the fact I have to sit out in the cold to hand it out because if they ring my doorbell , my dogs go nuts . It’s just not fun. If I had grandchildren I would do it . Instead we go out to dinner and stay out until it’s over . Definitely more fun .

When you draw something like that houseplant do you draw the closest leaves first and then draw all the other shapes behind that?

MageB NorthernSeeker ⋅ October 21, 2018

I never thought about it. I just draw an outline of the plant.

When I drew the sailboat at the dock, I drew the boat and masts. Then I added the sails. LOL See the mast line through the sails. .Lastly I drew the docks and rocks.
