30 Seconds in Negative Thoughts

(attempted poetry)

I’m giving you 30 seconds”, he said to the phone. “To do what?” She said in an irritated tone. “Nothing, just tell me what you really think about me.”

All she heard was the wind gushing. “Where are you?” she asked. “Doesn’t matter, you’ll know soon.” he countered.

Fifteen seconds had passed, and tears filled his eyes. “I just needed you with me,” he cried.
That’s when she realised.

She spoke inaudible words, he wasn’t sure what they were. “Why”, “I love you”, “You’re selfish”, or just speechlessness.
Any combination of expressions were meaningless now.

He saw the ground rising, and now he started to regret.
The attention he craved, he may or may not get.
In one more second, this story ends.
