I was sixteen years old when I had applied to my first job at a movie theatre. Located within a sketchy shopping mall in a small city, working in the cinema was initially frightening. I had a couple friends who had been working there that recommended the job to me. Most of my coworkers were my age, yet, this new job seemed to severly impose on my innocence.
That loss of innocence started with my manager Andrew. He was 21.
It was only my third month working at the cinemas, and I had just turned 17. It was football season and I was invited to join the cinema fantasy football league, hosted by my manager Andrew. At the time, I really didn’t know Andrew. He is a tall, skinny guy with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Despite his relaxed disposition, his appearance in a manager suit was slightly intimidating.
As the league progressed, Andrew and I continued to carry the only two undefeated teams in the league. Our victorious positions sparked a bond between the two of us. We began to text about our victories and other fantasy football matters daily. Eventually, topics progressed and things became more personal. Andrew became someone I could talk to whenever, about anything.
