Still very cold here but a sunny day at least. Nice to have a Friday off! I will be at a deacon’s meeting all day tomorrow, so I’ve been getting some tasks done ahead of time for the tea.

Stopped at church this morning and hung the tulle and the little Valentine “clothelines” in our meeting room. A volunteer lady, Maryanne, was there and she helped me with them. It was so nice to have someone else help me with the draping and cutting…..hard to see what looks right on your own. We looked at the little Valentines and just marveled at how pretty the colors still are, and the artwork. These have to have been printed in the 1940’s or 1950’s at the latest. They have little penciled names on the back too, so knowing that they were actually given to someone at one time makes them all the sweeter.

That said, the room still looked pretty sparse, but once the tables are set with white cloths, centerpieces, scattered Valentine hearts (from my favorite store, Dollar Tree), and we have the table laden with goodies, things will look more festive. Two women always loan us their tea cup and saucer collections, so that in itself is a treat to have. And another woman lends tiny cocktail napkins, all linen and some embroidered, for use on the tables. Yes, we Anglicans know how to do a tea party!

The other day I made a wonderful apple pie dessert in my slow cooker. It smelled so good baking all afternoon and was marvelous after supper with some Cool Whip on top. http://www.flourmewithlove.com/2013/03/slow-cooker-apple-pie.html?m=1

Now speaking of cooking, I think I’ll go hard cook the eggs for my egg salad sandwiches.
