How old will you be in 5 years?
Coming up for 65 which is a sobering thought.

How tall are you?
5’ 3” which can be a pain with getting stuff to fit but from the answers I’m reading, it sounds like being tall is just as bad!

What are you looking forward to most in the next six weeks?
A family get together for my 60th and a school reunion.

What’s the last movie you saw?
One called Calibre which was pretty good.

Are your parents together?
Hopefully in the afterlife. Mum waited a long time to join Dad (almost 40 years) so it would be nice to think of them back together.

What colour are your eyes?
Brown.

Where would you go if you could go anywhere?
Italy - probably Venice.

Do you tan or burn?
Burn mostly then it turns to thousands of freckles.

What did you fear was going to get you at night as a child?
The Bogey Man who I was convinced lived in the wardrobe in my bedroom.

How many pillows do you sleep with?
3.

How many states/provinces have you lived in?
I stay in Scotland so none.

Shoes, socks or bare feet?
Actually - slippers if poss.

What is your favourite dessert?
Crème caramel.

What is your favourite kind of soup?
Cullen skink - a local delicacy and delicious despite its name!

Do you like coffee?
Prefer tea - lots of milk and 2 sugar lumps please.

What do you drink in the morning?
Nothing.

Do you like to cuddle?
I do yes - nothing like snuggling up to someone.

Have you ever been to Canada?
Yes. Twice. Once when I was single and once when married.

Do you know anyone with the same birthday as you?
Several folk. It used to puzzle me until I realised it was 9 months after Hogmanay (5th of September) - then it made sense!

Do you want kids?
Already have one and she’s enough trouble!!

Have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
Not had that particular pleasure and that’s fine by me.

Do you prefer an ocean or a pool?
An ocean as long as it’s warm outside!

What do you dip a chicken nugget in?
Nothing because I certainly wouldn’t be eating one. However I have dipped several into my grandchildren on a Tuesday night when I make them tea before Lily’s swimming class!

Have you ever run out of money?
We had some pretty tight times when married but no I’ve never run out completely. I was given an excellent psychic reading once not longer after Nikki was born and was told there would always be enough money for my needs and I have to say that’s been true so far, even in the most recent awful illness-fuelled times when I had to stop work suddenly. I’ve always been pretty good with money though - never squandered it.

What is your usual bedtime?
I usually go up and lie on top of the bed around 10 because I get exhausted around that time but I don’t go to sleep until around midnight.

Do you read the newspaper?
No I made a conscious decision to stop reading any newspapers or watching the news way back in the seventies because what I read upset me so much - I can become really distressed with stories of cruelty or man’s inhumanity to man and it affected me too much so I just decided no. When I was married I discovered I didn’t miss anything because Boyd would read out snippets of the newspaper to me and I would also hear about stuff at work but even now I’m single and not working I still find it’s impossible to be completely ignorant as long as you’re not a total recluse. In these days of our connections to social media of one kind or another, stuff filters down the line pretty quickly.

What was the last note you scribbled on a piece of paper?
My latest To Do list. I’ve noticed even in these days of lots of technological aids, many of us still make out To Do lists!

When was the last time you attended church?
At Mam’s funeral in November 3 years ago.

What is the longest you have ever camped out in a tent?
About half a night - I was absolutely freezing and ended up taking myself and my sleeping bag into the car! Nikki and I have camped out in the open a couple of times to raise funds for the Cyrenians, a charity which helps the homeless. Only for a night each time. And that was bloody freezing an’ all!!

Nice answers.

Cullen Skink? Skink is that little lizard looking thing, is that what it is?

Marg ^..^Kat ⋅ August 27, 2018

No it’s just the name of a thick soup made with smoked haddock, potatoes and onions - almost a meal in itself and Cullen is a place in Morayshire, Scotland. I’m not sure where the skink part came from originally!

Sounds super yummy!

I tried making my grocery lists on my phone but about 18 months ago I reverted back to index cards and I am a big fan of written To Do lists. I keep notebooks around for little random things like authors I want to read and quotes I enjoy. I like the smell of coffee but can't imagine drinking it. :)

Marg noko ⋅ August 28, 2018

I'm the same - I use the notes thingie on my phone for shopping and have an app for things I have to remember - appointments and the like - but you can't beat a goid old written To Do list!
Also I had LOADS of stuff written in my 'notes' on the phone - books I wanted to read, films I wanted to read, quotes, family info etc etc and for some reason it wasn't backed up so I lost it all when I got a new phone!

edna million noko ⋅ September 05, 2018

I was SO excited about all the vast possibles of keeping grocery lists on my phone -- and quickly found that's about a million times more trouble than just jotting a list down.

Marg edna million ⋅ September 06, 2018

You're so right!

Beret August 27, 2018

I had to look cullen skink up. That's a new one on me!

Marg Beret ⋅ August 28, 2018

Not a great name but it's a delicious dish!

Sabrina-Belle August 28, 2018

I love the answer about your birthday. I once read that more people alive today were born the month Hubby was, February 1946, than any other ... 9 months after VE Day!

Marg Sabrina-Belle ⋅ August 28, 2018

Makes sense!😁

BaybNJoe August 28, 2018

I loved doing these on OD! I'll do it, this time! Add a little levity to my complaining! LOL

I still watch the news on TV regularly and visit CBC's website many times a day. I don't find myself buying newspapers anymore. I've never run out of money, which I consider to be being unable to buy food and pay for rent and heat. Lots of times I've been in debt a daunting amount.

Marg NorthernSeeker ⋅ August 30, 2018

I did actually run out once when I was a student - I'd totally forgotten - and nearly got myself run over by a taxi when I was worrying about it!

kmh. September 01, 2018

I looked up Cullen Skink and it sounds yum!

Marg kmh. ⋅ September 02, 2018

It is! In fact I realised I hadn’t had it for ages and noticed it was on the menu of the place we’re going to for the family lunch I’m having for my birthday next weekend so was really looking forward to having it again. However folk have opted for the afternoon tea instead of a meal so I’ll just have to have it another time!

Serin September 03, 2018

I was certain that a skink is a kind of reptile, but google says you're not teasing me about the cullen skink (or you put an impressive amount of work into it)

And what did the grandkids dip their nuggets into? I'm guessing ketchup, it's common among grandkids that I've seen.

Marg Serin ⋅ September 04, 2018

Honest guv - all true!

They're not allowed ketchup so they don't get that little delight I'm afraid😁

edna million September 05, 2018

Happy happy birthday!!! I read this ages ago and apparently got distracted and didn't leave a note, but I do recall when I saw the first line I misread it as you will be 65 on your next birthday and was baffled! I am going to have to borrow this one. Reading the papers pretty much results in panic attacks these days, unfortunately. I mostly stick to news highlights from Apple News which certainly isn't much better. Funny about camping too - we used to camp a lot, especially when I was a kid. I loved it back then, but as an adult I'd do ANYTHING to avoid it! One of my luggage tags is one of those Anne Taintor ones with the 1960s woman saying, "I love not camping!"

Marg edna million ⋅ September 06, 2018

Haha love it!

ConnieK September 05, 2018

Happy birthday month coming up (mine is Oct 8)! I have never tasted a chicken nugget. They look awful to me, but then I'm not much for chicken at restaurants, anyway.

Marg ConnieK ⋅ September 06, 2018

Yeah - I can assure you you're missing nothing! It pains me to have to give them to the girls on a Tuesday before Lily's swimming lesson but if I don't, Nikki would give them a McDonalds so Tesco's ones are definitely the lesser of the two evils!!

ConnieK Marg ⋅ September 06, 2018

I know that its chopped up chicken and I know that oftentimes, inedible parts get chopped up and mixed in.

Marg ConnieK ⋅ September 07, 2018

Yuk!

Very interesting! Scotland is a beautiful country. I also love the Isle of Skye...such a wonderful place to hike.

Marg Deleted user ⋅ September 09, 2018

Oh yes Skye is beautiful - if you can get the sun to shine but even in the rain it can be bonny!

Deleted user Marg ⋅ September 10, 2018

People told us we were very lucky then with the nice sunny weather we had during that week on Skye.

Justlovely September 14, 2018

This is fun.
