Hey everyone, happy Friday!
Wanted to post a quick heads up that there may be some brief downtime on the site over the next week or so in the wee hours of the morning. We’re deep into site optimization work, and while we’re doing our best to schedule this kind of thing between 3 and 5AM CST, there may be some hiccups here and there.
Remember, if you publish an entry and see a panda, just hit the back button and the text will still be there.

Thanks for letting us know. That's 9-11pm here in the UK I think. I have already seen the sad panda a couple of times but only briefly and I assumed it was something like this.

Here's a suggestion I've been meaning to give you. I think it would be really nice if people could have the option of leaving comments anonymously. We wouldn't have to let them if we didn't want to but it would be nice if we had the the choice of allowing for those who wish to comment anonymously. I think some people may be more honest about some things if they knew they could say what they want from within the shadows.

I always hated anonymous notes on OD. They only ever seemed to be left when someone wanted to say something nasty.

That's the point. :) I'm curious as to how many nasty comments I'd get and how many people would then dare to say what's REALLY on their minds. It should be optional, though, instead of just no notes or everybody being able to leave notes non-anonymously

Will take this into consideration, but i’m honestly pretty hesitant. There has been an increasing amount of harassment on the site lately, and i’d rather not give the trolls another tool. I’d rather build in protections that lead the site in the other direction and encourage more positive interactions in the community. Given the state of the internet these days, positivity is typically in short supply. Appreciate the suggestion though, keep em coming!
