I been working 12 hour shifts for almost 2 weeks without a day off. I am getting tired and defeated. By the time I come home I just want to sleep. I need to clean the house do chores. How do people work extended shifts without exhaustion kicking in? I take caffiene pills stay awake during day sleeping pills during the night. I don’t know how people do it but I need to know I have another six days of 12 hour shifts and an 8 hour shift till my days off.
My friends complain I have no time for them. My mom isn’t happy talking to me till late at night wanting to know if I will ever have time for her. Talan tries get me to bed as soon as possible but it takes a while to calm down.
How do people work extended shifts find times with rest and time for friends and family. I know ambulance drivers and doctors work even more hours. I just have no idea how to find a balance. I fear one day I will call asleep and wreck my car!

I know a lot of professions, like police officers, won't let you work that many hours that many days in a row because it's a liability (like falling asleep while driving, snapping on the job, etc). Departments won't even allow them to have second jobs because it's too much work.
I think Talan needs to get a damn job!

Agree with above. Why are you letting Talan mooch off of you? As for long shifts, people routinely get days off between a series of long shifts. Is that even legal for a company to require you to work like that?

It's not sustainable long term. I have worked similarly before, but usually given a half day and a day off to break it up.
Also, the medication won't be helping, you don't get into a natural cycle like that and so you never fully rest and recover.
