RAD: Ricky Ricardo in These Foolish Things

Name: Ricky Ricardo (how I came up with this name is kind of a long story - it will be explained by the end of this RAD)

Age: 54

Status: Single. Divorced since 2000. Had another long relationship (7 years) with someone important to him. He would have married her, but she didn’t want to get married. 2 grown kids who live with their significant others…he’s extremely close to his children

Job: International Sales

Lives: Fancy neighborhood, but not in the SUPER fancy part.

Length of Date: 5 hours

We Did: Met at a restaurant we both really like in the middle of the day, and it was really crowded so we walked across the street to this place’s sister restaurant. Had drinks and some veggie sushi there until I got super cold (I hate extremely air conditioned places) and we walked back over to original restaurant and ended up having more drinks and dinner! Talked and talked and talked and LAUGHED!

He Looked: Nice. Not blow-me-out-of-the-water hot, but nice. Polo shirt, khaki pants, dad bod, same fancy watch as me!

I Looked: Fresh! Freshly washed hair, fresh makeup, sexy-ish body-hugging lightweight knit dress that drapes just so and exposed my very pretty lacy fancy bra. Wedges with gold metallic accessories, my fancy watch.

First Impression: This is the nice guy I’ve been telling you about. He was super nice!! I was thrown by his accent when we first said hello. I didn’t know he was hispanic because he doesn’t really look hispanic to me. In fact, he’s half Mexican and half German (born in Germany). Lived in Mexico a good majority of his life and moved to [my city] from Mexico City last year. His accent is very latin…and sexy…and nice!

Convo: Not only is he nice, but he’s funny! I suppose you have to be super personable to be a successful salesperson - especially in international sales where you have to understand all of the different senses of humor. He seems kind. He’s clearly very, very close with his family. We talked past relationships, families, and even a bit of business! We talked and talked! It went on a lot longer than I expected.

High Point: Feeling a connection.

Low Point: When someone I know saw me at restaurant #2 and came over to say hello. I was introducing the two of them and got his name wrong!! I called him Richard (and his name is NOT Richard - that’s where the “Ricky” comes from…the Ricardo part is because of his accent) and I was super embarrassed when he corrected me. He then proceeded to rib me the rest of the date! Luckily, we turned my embarrassment into a funny joke. We have decided that Richard is his crazy alter ego and there are a few more personalities I haven’t met yet, including Roger…

How It Ended: He wanted the day/evening to continue, but I needed to go home and walk the dog - kind of happy for that excuse because I was tired of eating and drinking (but definitely not tired of the company - it’s just best to end on a high note and I think that’s where we were). He walked me out to my car which was parked right across from his car. He told me that he’d text me when he got home and to let him know I made it home safely. We even talked on the phone when I got done walking the dog last night!

Chances Are: Pretty damn good. We have plans to go to dinner tonight!

Date Rating: A- (I give it a minus because I’m still embarrassed by calling him the wrong name and I’m also being cautious). It was a very good date.

I think this A is the first we have had in a while. I like how he corrected you after the other person had gone. Nice.
