I May Be Crazy - But it Feels Good* in These Foolish Things

So. I did my 4:30am workout this morning as planned. It went off without a hitch, though a 4am alarm comes early. It’s not the worst thing in the world. I love how there’s NO traffic in the middle of the night, and it’s kind of cool to think that I’m practically the only one up in the neighborhood. Is that weird?

Shockingly, I got to the studio, and the place was PACKED! It’s like when you go to the airport for a super early fight and you’re always blown away that the security line snakes all the way around the corner, you know? Has that ever happened? Like, I had that 5:30am flight to Miami a few weeks ago and there were HUNDREDS of people in the security line at 4:30am! Who gets up this early? Clearly a lot of people do.

So yeah, that’s how I was feeling - literally every space was occupied in the studio and it quickly felt like the middle of the day when we started working out.

The workout was fine - it’s Orangetheory for anyone wondering - I think there are studios all over the country now. It’s your standard boutique studio workout, which means it’s a smallish studio where a trainer takes you through a series of circuits that give you good cardio and strength training. It was really good, but not as hard as my weekend boutique class (also not as expensive, and ALSO not as sexy, but hey…it’s 4:30 in the freaking morning!). I did love the fact that I didn’t feel like the oldest person in the joint, and it was very straightforward.

Bottom line, I liked it and I was home and in the shower by 6am! Ready for work and out that door at 7am. I’d been looking for exactly this for a while now.

I’m going back on Thursday. Hooray!

Other interesting observations. I didn’t drink coffee this morning before working out. That’s not normal for me, but I simply didn’t have time this morning. When I got home I decided to check my blood pressure (remember it’s been high), and it was like 101/70! Then I realized that I had the cuff on upside down (I blame early morning fogginess), so I did it over…this time correctly. But it was still that low when I used the machine properly, so I started wondering if it is the coffee that’s keeping my BP high even after my diet.

So I’m trying to not drink any coffee today. This should be interesting. It’s 11am and I feel a slight headache and I’m a twinge sleepy, but so far so good! Not sure if I’ll be able to kick coffee cold turkey, but I do want to see if I can make it through the day and will check my BP again after the workday.

Okay, time to blast more of this work out (as opposed to workout, heh!). I have some deadlines looming and lots to be done this week while Boss is still on vacay. It’s going to be INSANE when he gets back, so the more I do now the better it will be in the long run.

Have a wonderful day, friends!

xox,
GS

Post-Work blood pressure update: no coffee at all today, BP read 121/77 after work, so it went up but it’s still pretty amazing what a difference not having coffee seems to make…if that’s truly what it is.

Wednesday (next day) update: Still no coffee, though I had tea this morning. BP reads 112/72 this morning. So interesting!
