/182. That means there are 999, 819 left. Glorious morning. Mainly. Spring is a gift. We is lucky.

/183. I was up early and on the ‘net before day break. First I found a meme- poster/quote-y thing that said - Children of all colors picked cotton - then a picture of white kids with bags of cotton and the rest of the message - read your history. It had been posted by a friend of mine. Within a few minutes I ran across a man who offered to show me his face as if he was making a huge concession to something or another. Life has to be better than either of those options.

/184. So Gracie and I took off on our morning sun-worship walk. I wanted to take a picture of the sun coming up from a particular vantage place and I had to pace back and forth for a long time waiting for it to appear. A watched sun takes a long time to rise. We went to the hay field at the bottom of Joana’s hill and sat leaning against last year’s bales enjoying the morning. The low sun light lit both our faces. Red-winged blackbirds are back and the wold is full of the sound of running water. I wrote in my notebook and came home with cockleburs on my butt just like Gracie.

/185. Part way home I managed to put myself in to a pretty intense case of tree regret. At the top of the little hill by the old dump the county had left one tree with about a 6-inch diameter trunk. In it were two birds. Made me think of all the wildlife habitat the tree cutters remove. I just wish someone were paying attention. When I got closer to home I looked a the fence row that remains a distance below the road and realized all the small trees and brush were not leafing out. They had been killed by the county’s spray last year. There had been a number of wild plums in that fence row. Wild plums welcome orange and black orioles. And then of course I saw my definitely ornamental definitely planted red plum at the end the driveway that they had killed from the wrong side - not the side that blocks the view from the driveway. That side is budding out and should be in bloom by the end of the week. Plus the trees that were lost to storms.... to old age. I the person who never cries wa almost in tears. I need something else to think about when I’m out in the world with my tree ghosts.

/186. Oh well life is a gift. We are lucky people. Me too. Me especially. I have a small field of sky-blue scilla that have spread from the daffodils along the road. I have three special daylilies still coming up in the wildness. And since there are fewer trees beside the driveway I might move at least parts of the daylilies down there where there’s more sun. I have enough plants buried in brush if I established a rescue program for them.

/187. Jim’s computer wifi won’t work from the living room or upstairs anymore. Maybe when we get a fresh batch of internet after the 9th of the month, an update will come through or something that will fix that glitch. He said when he thought it was going to be entirely done - or maybe even if it isn’t - he was thinking of getting a smart phone and giving up his laptop. We can’t afford all things electronic. There is still money in the tree envelope - the source of funding for my new computer. He’s unhappy with the camera’s limitations too - the spots in the sky, the iffy operation.

/188. I lack patience with the camera and its operation and the name different places and different ways there are to post photos. Back in the old days when there was just the Bell system, you get it. So many sites host their own photos now. That’s supposed to be coming here too. I wonder if a limited number of pics - at least a limited number per day or per week - would be better than allowing unlimited hosting.

/189. I applied yesterday to join a site that discussed word usage. I’d gone looking for a particular answer - the one I wanted of course - in the usage of crisp/crispy - and ended up wanting to say what I wanted to say. I will let you know if I hear back from them.

/190. I weighed 208.5 with my clothes on and my shoes off. I have no explanation. I weighed 206 at my doctor visit in November. The doctor graciously said she’d like me to weigh ten lbs. less in a year. I thought nothing to it. I will weigh a lot more than ten lbs less. Sure. Turns out I either have no self-control or very limited self-control which pretty muh is the same thing. I tried to control carb intake for a while - but i could not keep doing it. Oh, well.

/191. Thinking a bit of adding to Paper Cuts to the Heart. Maybe Della can get on her motorbike and take it to the garage where the gearhead with the tattoos takes her back in the shop and they get greasy. After that maybe her mother will visit. What are you going to DO? People like you/us never run out of money.

/192. This was supposed to be done half an hour ago. But that’s time that won’t come back. When I was writing 750 words yesterday and lacking in inspiration and typing strokes, I went for a walk around the house - outside - long and short - every 250 words.

/193. For a wordy, I like numbers. 999,808 left. Have a good day everyone. If you run across any trees, be grateful. Pet the dog. Eat some ice cream - from Whippy Dip or elsewhere. Have the kind of day you deserve.

well when I have some ice cream today I am going say that Mary said I could, lol,

what time does the sun come up there now, your photos of the sunrise are gorgeous, the sun is up early here now, officially at 5:46am but it's getting light out around 5, definitely bright by 5:30 when the alarm goes off,

I always hate seeing trees die off too,

enjoy your day!

I left home today at 5:30 and the sun was up before 6. I looked it up in the newspaper. Today in Cedar Rapids, 100 miles south of here, it came up at 5:54 am .and went down last night at 8:12 pm. Lots of daylight anyway you look at it.

sunset here is an hour later than yours, that's where we see the biggest difference being north, it's currently 9:14pm here, I am so thankful for the sunlight, makes such a difference!

It is a gorgeous day here too . Just having my cup of tea. Rough night last night with my back, but this morning is better :-) Moving plants outside later . I thought I had gotten rid of a huge amount but apparently it’s still too many :-( That is how I riled up my back yesterday . I have to get these plants in line before I can move on to packing up more stuff . Namely sorting tons of books.
I would be mourning those trees and the lost habitat too . I wonder that the county doesn’t realize having those also help prevent erosion . Every time I see fields here with no hedge row of trees, I think of The Dust Bowl and how people are forgetting what caused it. I would never want to live through a time like that . I have read a lot about it. So many children died from breathing the dust :-(
Today will be busy once I get going. Work to do here and errands to run. The hardest part of contemplating moving is there is always a long list of things that need to be done every day . Makes a person reluctant to get out of bed. :-( but it has to be done or we are not going anywhere . Some days I do not care .
I don’t use my laptop anymore. I can do almost everything on my phone and the rest I use my iPad. I have been thinking about an Apple Watch but I know it’s just a silly thing unless it does more than I already know.
Well, I need to get going. Pat Gracie and enjoy this glorious day !

What a wonderful morning walk with Gracie! And I love the way you described it. Trees are beautiful...maybe planting a few more on your property would help make up for the trees killed on the side of the road. Things that keep humans safe are not good for the environment. I like the idea of you adding to Paper Cuts to the Heart (love that name). I wonder if writing is like painting...where if you have a few things on the go you'll always feel motivated to work on one of them.

I felt your sadness for the lost trees. I have an affinity with trees - they fascinate me.
