I miss you like you miss the summer in addressing the public

I miss you like you miss the summer
Wind-whipped skin and hands so cold
But mine, you held them through the winter
You made my stone heart liquid gold

I heard you like you hear the sirens
Far at first but drawing near
Your voice, an octave never heard of
I let it pour into my ears

I felt you like you feel the sunshine
Eyes stung shut and grinning teeth
But mine, they bite down finding nothing
In search of something just as sweet

I loved you like you love the city
Rain-kissed days and drunken nights
Tonight, I’d fly beyond all logic
To see your face beneath the lights.
