Name: Triple D (Dog Date Dude)

Age: 50

Status: Divorced a few years, no kids, AMAZING hound dog!

Job: Occupational Therapist who spends his free time scouting and supporting dog-friendly venues

Lives: A few miles from me - almost walkable!

Length of Date: All day on Sunday! Well, to be honest, it was more like noon to 4:30, but it was at a street festival so it felt like all day!

We Did: I walked over to the festival and to the stage where he was a judge in a puppy parade (adorbs!). We (Triple D, his dog, my dog and I) grabbed a beer when it was over and walked a little bit and then hit this little dog park where we let our dogs run for a bit - only because they were the only two dogs in the park. He told me he was hungry and wanted to go to his buddy’s place - which turned out to be the most delicious dog-friendly street taco spot I’ve ever visited. Had shredded pork tacos and a pink grapefruit cider (on top of the beer). We talked and talked and then went back to the festival where he bought me another beer. My head started to hurt. Every 5 steps we took, people would stop us to ask about his dog, who is a pretty special and wonderful hound dog who randomly just throws his head in the air and hooowwwwllls!! We went to yet another one of his secret spots where I just couldn’t have another beer and I ordered a rose spritzer instead. Loved it. May be my summer drink of choice.

He Looked: So here’s the thing. I’d met him on a Thursday evening not really thinking a whole lot about him because he was just this nice guy I was happy to meet because he’s running a dog-centric organization and was taking photos of me and my dog for his social media. But then…when I saw him again on Sunday, he was SHOCKINGLY handsome to me. Oh my. The man is ruggedly gorgeous with his wavy gray hair and his army jacket, jeans and dusty Chuck Taylors. I saw this guy in a whole new light. Let’s just say he looked really good. I was practically giddy. I think it also helped that I hadn’t heard anything from Paul, you know? I was feeling attracted without any kind of weirdness from thinking too much about somebody else.

I Looked: Well, it was freezing cold the day before and even though it had started to warm up on Sunday, I still felt a bit chilled to the bone. So I donned the furry muppet coat over a simple sweater, jeans scarf and booties. The dog was sweatered up as well. It got a lot warmer in the afternoon, but we kept bundled up. The warmth felt so good.

First Impression: First impressions were last week. My first impression of Trip was nice guy my new impression was INTERESTED

Convo: He’s a talker. He has a lot to say. He may have been a little nervous. He told me about being a Gulf War veteran, and it’s pretty clear from what he told me that he suffers. Still, he seems to have a handle on things from what I could gather. He told me about being an OT and helping people and some other businesses he dabbles in. He’s clearly passionate about what he does. He asked me a little about my past relationships (I guess to understand my current status), but not really much about what I’m thinking about going forward. He’s super friendly and introduced me to a bunch of folks at the venues he frequents. Such a likable guy. I like him.

High Point: Just…the whole day. I can’t really think of one singular thing - it was the combination of the festival and the crowd and him and our dogs and the places he took me…all great! Had such a wonderful day.

Low Point: He didn’t show me a lot of signs of attraction - kind of the opposite end of the spectrum from Paul. And I don’t know if it’s a true low point because this could be a situation where some kind of attraction/romance/whatever could grow. I can sense a sadness from him, and that makes me curious in a cautious way. I do want to know more.

How It Ended: We walked a bit more of the festival, said goodbyes to some of his friends, and he actually drove me home because his truck was closeby. When he got to the front of my building, he told me that he was “old fashioned” and I took that to mean that he wasn’t going to try to kiss me. I was okay with that, but it left me wondering a couple of things: (1) was he scared to kiss me? (2) did he not want to? (3) is he another Bulldog? That guy went 8 months without kissing me!

Chances Are: Dunno. I kind of remember talking about getting together again, but it may have been from the perspective of him inviting me to a dog-friendly event or something. Whichever way this thing goes, I’m VERY happy we met and at the very least, I’ve got some new friends coming my way via patios and events around town!

Date Rating: A-. The minus is there only because I’m not clear on what this might be.

Regardless, it was very, very nice.
