…that could have ruined my wonderful, wonderful day yesterday…happened.
Let’s back up.
I got home on Friday evening and just wanted to relax. In fact, I really wanted to relax alllllll weekend. That was the plan.
The actual plan was, bed early on Friday. Get up early Saturday morning to take Martini to doggy daycare. Take myself out to breakfast. Pick up watch that had just been serviced at jewelers (out for 6 weeks, so glad to get my fabulous timepiece back), home to drop off car, walk to spa, spa for rest of day, pick up Martini at daycare, maybe a snack, and then home to bed.
So look all of that happened. Lovely solo breakfast at one of my fave places, watch looks like new, spa was…OMG…like the best experience I have EVER had. Seriously, the nicest spa I’ve ever stepped foot into. And look, I don’t do spas all that often, but after yesterday, I’m not sure why I don’t (besides the fact that they are not cheap). I may have to do a description of the spa itself in another entry because it was such an amazing experience. INSANE set up, amazing staff, delicious male massage, even a celebrity sighting! More on that to come!
So did all that, picked up the dog, got home and was snacking on some shit thinking about the fact that I didn’t want to go out even to get some dinner…was cuddled up in my bed with the dog, still basking in the spa glow…
When my boss texts from China: “[GS], I need a favor by tonight my time…” and it goes on to tell me what he needs - basically a report that I would need to CREATE from other documents that I’d already sent him. It was a couple of hours worth of work that I’d need to do. And note that “tonight my time” is 14 hours ahead. It was after 7PM here, which meant it was after 8am there, so “tonight” meant FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ON SUNDAY.
You guys, what if I’d been out daydrinking all day or was on a date…or had ANY plans on a Saturday night?? He asked me to do this after 7PM on a SATURDAY NIGHT. Something that needed to be done by FIRST THING SUNDAY MORNING!!
I was soooooooooooooo angry about this, but I couldn’t pretend that I didn’t see the message, so I texted him back, “I’ll need to go into the office to get this information. Give me a couple of hours.”
Thinking that he might be a decent human being and realize what he was asking me to do. But no. He writes back immediately saying, “Okay, thanks.”
All of my spa relaxation - poof…gone.
So off I went, angry as a motherfucker, dog in tow, to the fucking office (which is a 25-minute drive away).
Created a brand new document with all of the info he needed. This took me close to 2 hours. As I worked on the doc, it got dark and spooky in the office and right before I finished and hit send on the email, I thought I heard something/someone. I was kind of freaking out because we’d had some weird incidents around the office.
And then I heard something like a faint alarm going off on the other side of the building. I walked around the corner, and sure enough…there was an ALARM going off. Either I’d set it off…or someone else did! I called out, “hello?” but got no answer.
Bottom line, I sent my urgent email, grabbed the dog and darted out of the building. I left a message for our safety/security guy and then sent a text to boss, saying simply, “Sent. FYI, I also think I set off the security alarm in the building. I called [security guy].”
The message I got back?
“LOL.”
That’s right. My boss thought it was fucking FUNNY?!
Security Guy called me back to tell me that indeed the alarm was tripped and that the police were on the way. I was already halfway home, so I asked him if he needed me to go back to the office and he said no, that I did the right thing by calling him and letting him know what was going on…he’d take care of it.
So back home, the dog and me. Still fuming. I drank a little wine and then to bed.
I’m still pissed. I have so much to say, but I need to go to my Sunday morning workout right now and work off this residual anger.
MUCH more to follow on (1) Paul, (2) the Spa treatment, (3) something sneaky that I haven’t written about that includes a new fella!!!!!
Happy Sunday to you!
xox,
GS
