Well, hello there! Many, many things happening lately. I think I will bullet:
Lance. Oh, Lancey. You filled back up - but this time with blood. Not a lot, but enough to turn black and look gross! After my workout on Saturday morning, I looked at you in the mirror and was shocked to see a big, black boil on the back of my neck. After the long and steamy shower, you opened up to me and expressed...blood. Neat. I’m getting over you quickly. You’re healing, but you’re super unpredictable. You annoy me. The doctors will see you again soon.
Mini Pearl. Well, hello there! You’re my new car - a 2018 Mini Cooper Convertible! My dog, Martini and I came to find you on Saturday - and we did! I’m super excited about having a convertible Mini Cooper after 10 years as a BMW owner (heh, technically *renter* because I have been leasing cars for the last 13 years). I know, I know...switching from BMW to Mini??! But I *love* the personality of this little beaut! She’s adorable, kind of funny, and really zippy! Oh, the places we’ll go!
The work stuff. Something amazing happened on Friday that kind of blew my mind and I have Golden Boy to thank. I’ve been running around like a spaz over the last few weeks to get this project to the show on time (it’s next week for those following along). On Friday I had to drive samples all over town and weigh and measure things and get product photographed and a lot of general running around - which was great for my step count, by the way! So at one point on Friday, I was hauling a sample around all over the office looking for my boss for some approval of somesort, and I found him in Golden Boy’s office. I stopped and said I’d gotten this and that done and...look at this GORGEOUS piece of work!! Right? And Boss was like, yeah that’s great, but have you done XYZ…? And Golden Boy immediately chimed in and said, “Boy, you are never satisfied, are you? She’s killing herself to get this line to bed and you are always asking for more.” ...and Boss scratched his head for a minute in realization and was like, “You’re right! I do always ask for more, don’t I?”
Which, at least it’s recognized. At least other people see it and now he does too. I also understand asking for more and more and more. It’s his job as a leader to push for more and I appreciate that. But I’m hoping that it leads to at least SOME kind of recognition after this is all said and done. And by recognition I mean HIM giving credit where credit is due. There are about five smaller projects that I’ve worked on in a similar fashion and he’s given credit to anyone and everyone but ME. Why he’s done this I don’t know, but I’m dying to see what happens at the show when this line goes over like gangbusters - which I have an idea that it will.
Who will get the credit?? Will it be me? Stay tuned to find out!
The workOUT stuff. I’ve been busting my hump with the workouts since about mid-January. It’s now nearly mid-March! I can’t say that I’ve lost more weight since I last reported that I’d lost 6 lbs. That’s holding steady. But, hello muscle tone! Look, I freaked out after turning 50 and realizing that any and all muscle tone I’d ever had in my life had VANISHED! Like, there was nothing to my body but fleshy squish! Now that I’m working out with heavier weights than I’ve ever worked out with before, I’m starting to see some progress! And with the cardio that I’m doing and keeping my eating healthy, I’m just beginning to see the results and I’m happy! I can’t wait to see more as the months go by. I’m determined to keep it nice and healthy - within reason. I’m loving this lifestyle. And yes, it’s kinda boring, but I’m working on that too.
The girls. So loving my girl time...finally! Happy [Athena] is back and happy to be making some other friends through interest groups and the like. [Athena] and I went to a lecture and exhibit at one of the art galleries in town and met up with some other lovely ladies and had just a wonderful time last Thursday! I am looking forward to many, many more evenings like that this year. This weekend is a St. Patrick’s Day version of our Brunch Upon a Time and I’m soooooo looking forward to that. Oh, and guess what? [Elaine Benes] and I have just made plans to meet in Miami for a quickie long weekend in April! So FUN! I love my girls.
