Feel Good Friday in These Foolish Things

I woke up on the right side of the bed today! Not sure how this happened, but it’s Friday morning and I’m in SUCH a good mood that I want to capture it here before anything has a chance to spoil it.

I’ve started a new regimen, and I’m going to work on a few things:

  • Work up a sweat at least 1x per day. Doesn’t matter how, although I’ve scheduled a bootcamp for both tomorrow (Sat AM) and Sunday morning. I truly think that one of the things that has me feeling so good today is that I’ve now had two solid weeks where I’ve worked up that sweat first thing in the morning. Truly is the very best medicine for me. This I know for sure. I don’t know why I ever let myself get out of the habit. My only excuse is bouts of laziness.

  • I’m going to be doing something called the 5:2 fast…It’s where you have two 500-calorie fast days per week. On the rest of the days, it’s business as usual with caloric intake (in other words, sensible eating, but certainly not starving) I experimented with Tuesday and Thursday this week and it has me feeling very energized. I’ve done this before. About five years ago. It got me to my goal weight and a really good state of mind. I guess I’d forgotten how easy it is to do this because it was easy! …this week, anyway.

  • Tomorrow begins another Whole Life Challenge for me. If you recall, it’s essentially a “game” that you play with others on a team. The goal is to incorporate healthy living habits such as stretching, meditation, good food, plenty of hydration, the right amount of sleep, etc. into your daily life. This will be my third round. I did VERY well the first time. The second time was during my birthday celebration time and when I did the road trip with Athena. I blew it and got discouraged and quit about halfway through. This time they’ve actually shortened the challenge timeframe from 8 weeks to 6 weeks because I think a lot of people get discouraged like I did and they end up not even completing the challenge, so it’s supposed to be easier to do 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off. We’ll see how this goes, but I’m pumped about it! Regardless of how I end up, I’ve definitely incorporated a couple of healthier elements to my life since doing these challenges - for example, I rarely put anything dairy into my coffee anymore (maybe 1x/month I give myself a latte for a splurge) and I looooovvvveee getting my sleep! My biggest challenges are getting the stretching in and meditation. I’ll keep you updated as we go through the process, I’m sure.

Anyway. Feeling good and ready to tackle some big meetings today. I love it when I feel like this. The radio had me belly-laughing this morning and some guy at the gas station asked me if I was a movie star!! I have a date tonight, so I dressed for work with that in mind, and I guess I was looking pretty well put together for a Friday. Heh. Regardless, I hope you’re feeling good too…because I love you!
