Theory of a Deadman

3 pm

Just got home a little bit ago. Got the damn cast off! HUZZAH!

They took it off before doing the x-rays. lol They had me make a fist, so I just quickly made a fist. Um yeah. Can’t do things fast. I let out a yelp, and promptly apologized. As soon as I got back to the exam room I ran some water, grabbed some paper towels and washed my arm lol Then I went “oooh lotion!!” and put some on lol omg it felt sooo good!!

So I’m stuck in a brace for 3 months, but have to start doing PT on myself ASAP. Well, judging by the move I just did, I’m going to have to go slow. ::sigh:: I am not a patient person.

BUT! I can take the brace off whenever I want as long as I’m not working :) I can shower, and wash my arm, and put lotion on it, and and and lol

I did ask for more norco. He was kind enough to give me 40. I’m going to send a message to idiot doctor to see if she’ll be willing to give me more Tramadol for the pain. I don’t want to take the Norco before work, but I know that ibuprofen alone may not work. Soooo… I should do that before I forget.

The next day.
2:27 pm

I crashed hard last night. At like… 7 pm? I know I went to bed as soon as the dogs came in. I was just exhausted. I shouldn’t have been, but… yeah.

Work was work today at the Alpenhorn. I got the stockroom/laundry room looking spiffy because I really didn’t have much to do except the common areas and the dining rooms. Everything else had been done. I finished off with shoving the rest of the laundry in the washer. All the laundry baskets are empty and ready for me to fill back up come Sunday.

I’m over at Client #2’s house tomorrow seeing that I couldn’t go yesterday. I know I have to give her stairs a really good vacuuming. I hope my little Dyson doesn’t die on me. Lugging the big vacuum around the stairs is cumbersome and a tad dangerous. I really don’t have two hands. One to hold the vacuum, the other to hold the hose.

But! right now I’m typing without the brace on :) I figure it would give my wrist a little movement without moving to much. I can barely move it, period. It’s going to take a long time. .

Idiot doctor did give me some tramadol, but warned me about becoming addicted. OMFG it’s god damn Tramadol. Damn tic-tacs! Jesus. I don’t even think they’re going to do anything for the pain, but I’ll give it a shot.

My wrist is still quite swollen in one area. I think that’s where the big break meets the little fracture.

It felt so good to take a shower without shoving my arm in a bag lol And I was able to use both hands to wash my hair!!! It’s the little things :)

5:40 pm

I’m ending the entry now. The exhaustion hit again. Wtf is up with this crap? I’m always tired, but never to the point where I’m just waiting on the dogs to go out one last time. Wonder what is lacking in my diet.

See ya.

Yay for no cast!!

I worked with a girl that took tramadol and she said the same thing about them being like tic-tacs...which really worried me since they're an opioid. I get why the warning is there, honestly. It's basically synthetic heroin so the chances of becoming addicted are very high...or at least a dependency. And I'm sure when you worked in the hospital you probably saw plenty of people on the tail end of that which probably started on that medicine with the best of intentions and then built up a tolerance.
That's how I ended up addicted to pills. Down here they won't prescribe anything over Tylenol III anymore and had notices up that if you had tramadol prescriptions or anything else that they were going to put you into a program to come off of it and not prescribe any further.
It really does suck, but I get it from the medical stand-point that she HAS to warn you and make it known otherwise if something bad did come from it...she could be blamed for not warning you.
I'm really glad your cast is off. Don't be stupid and try to speed things along lol. Just remember every time you want to push yourself how bad it itches in a cast and how hard it is to scratch LOL

I know. I know all the crap about tramadol. The brain converts it into a morphine derivative. So there is a chance of addiction. But lol like I said, tic-tacs. But, coupled with the ibuprofen it takes the edge off the pain. I do take it on schedule (just like the norco) because I want these pills to last. Plus with the psych meds I'm on I have to watch for seratonin syndrome with the Tramadol.
And I'm trying not to be stupid with my wrist lol I do take the brace off about every hour to flex my wrist... which is hardly flexing it. I have nooo movement. The tendons and ligaments are pretty frozen. grrr

Medicate was an instant classic with me - Theory of a Dead Man actually has some lyrically smart songs and didn't just turn out like another bland Nickelback clone like I'd feared

Glad to hear the cast is off - that initial feeling of freedom must have felt amazing!

Indeed the little things in life. Happy you got that sucker off now please do not do nothing to re-injure yourself. (((Hugs))).

I'm being good, I promise. I keep it off in the morning after my shower to ... lol type the stiffness away. Seems to help a little bit.
