It was a very nice one. I was at my parents’ place with Mom, Dad, Brother, SIL and Baby Niece. Oh, and my dog! We had much fun with the gifts for the baby - it was her first Christmas…and my Chinese Sister-in-Law’s first time with Christmas in the US as well.
Yes, my brother was very loud again. Yes, my mother had a moment of super bitchiness. Yes, my dad talked and talked and talked. And yes, I only stayed for 24 hours. It worked out fine. We ate, drank and were merry for a while until it was time to go. Is it wrong that I only go for short periods at a time? I feel like I stay for the optimal amount of time and leave before I have any kind of blow up…so…all good, right?
While my parents were at church on Christmas Eve (my brother and I and the baby stayed back at their house during the service that I don’t really like to attend), my brother played cartoons at an excruciating volume for he and the baby to watch, I ended up in the guest room with my laptop watching the BBC/Amazon Prime series, FLEABAG…
…which is simply brilliant (said with a British accent). I have now watched all of Season 1 and am dying for Season 2.And now I’m back at my apartment. Need to walk the dog and then head on to bed in. One more sleep until I leave for Argentina! I’m packed and ready to go. I have packed for 10 days in one small…and I do mean SMALL carry-on roller bag plus a tote bag. It has been like a fucking jigsaw puzzle and I literally had to sit on the suitcase and shimmy it around to get it to zip shut, but by god I’ve done it!
Tomorrow I want to get up early, workout, get all of my clothes for the plane ride, drive my dog out to the ‘burbs to where she’s going to be staying while I’m gone and then drive home, make sure I have everything ready and then catch the train to the airport.
Fingers crossed for the upgrade, but again, I have to be OK if it doesn’t go through. OH. I think I’m going to need something really juicy to read. Any recommendations? I’ll prob stop by the airport bookstore to grab something or maybe pull one of my unread books off the shelf. Not sure yet, but want a good read. I have to say that I didn’t finish Dante’s Divine Comedy, but the book is too big to bring on the plane and, quite frankly, not really what I want to read on a plane.
Whelp, that’s really all I can think of. I’ve had some nice holiday greetings today…none from any dudes except for one guy who I met maybe 10 years ago who has family close to where my family is. He asked me if I wanted to meet for a beer and I said no…that I was already back at my apartment and leaving the country for a while. Think he got the message? Ha!
I hope everyone has had a magical Christmas day!
Love, love and more love to you all!
