Ten More Things in These Foolish Things

  1. Commute to work this morning was INSANE. It’s a gullywasher out there this morning - the rain is absolutely out of control with roads flooding and cars crashing and all kinds of craziness. The GPS on my phone gave me the wildest route ot the office, taking me places in town I’d never, ever seen before! It was actually kind of exciting in a white-knuckle kind of way. And the good news is, GPS helped me avoid a freeway shutdown and a 2-hour traffic jam. Way to go, GPS.

  2. Best Bud is back in town after a business trip to China and Bangladesh. She missed out on the CEO’s Holiday party and a bunch of other things (including the Steve McQueen ordeal). So we had a brief hallway catch up session at work yesterday, and when we got to the SMcQ thing, I told her about his “breakup” text and the fact that I never even answered him back. But she told me that I should text him back and thank him for the honesty and to keep in touch. And I thought about it for a minute…you know, SMcQ has some pretty cool friends - and all of them appear to be divorced and ready to mingle. Should I somehow ask him to keep me in mind for his friends? Seriously, I’m trying to network like never before, and it seems to be working in a weird kind of way lately. What do you think, Dear PBers?

  3. Speaking of networking, I actually got an email with PRAISE from Boss regarding two leads I got for the company while on my business trip two weeks ago. He even used the words “game changer” in his email to me. You guys, this is unprecedented! Again, gotta keep this momentum going, and to that end, I’ve identified some other places I need to go for sourcing and networking. This could be the start of something new and different! I’m loving it.

  4. Gotta tell you about my Sunday brunch with Clifford. And you can see by the fact that it is four bullet points down, it was nothing to write home about…at least immediately, anyway. We ended up making an impromptu plan. He suggested the neighborhood, and I suggested the venue. It was a good compromise. He’s a super cool guy, but it feels like we are of different generations as well as total opposites from many angles. He comes from a family of 10…born and raised basically in the hood and has done pretty well for himself. I’m honestly not really sure why he even asked me out on a date as he’s planning on moving to Los Angeles in the near future. He’s pretty sexy, and I’d be interested in seeing him again, but it just feels like neither one of us is super gung-ho on the thought of getting into something when he’s excited about moving away…even though he’s VERY close to his family and not selling his townhouse (meaning, he’s coming back). Still, I don’t have time to wait for that shit.

  5. I got my hands on some eyeliner that has irritated my eyes so I’m about a week in of wearing extremely minimal makeup on my eyes. I feel like I look weird when I look in the mirror, but I need for my eye to heal before going to Argentina. I guess it wouldn’t be the end of the world not to wear makeup…but on New Year’s Eve??! I want to glam it up! I’ve spent too many NYE’s in a row not really doing anything, and this year I’ll be in South America! I want to sparkle!!

  6. Started my packing for the big trip. [Elaine Benes] texted me yesterday, reminding me to pack a swimsuit. UGH! You guys! A SWIMSUIT?! But yeah, it’s summertime in Argentina so I guess I’ll reluctantly put my pasty white body in a suit (and I don’t have a one-piece…I’m going to see if Best Bud will let me borrow one) and take one for the team on this trip!! That’s a joke, [Elaine]…kind of! Update: Best Bud is THE Swimsuit Queen and just told me that she’d bring several suits to work tomorrow for me to choose from. We have similar body shapes, though she’s been working out hardcore lately and looks amazing! Thank goodness for girlfriends.

  7. Also, need to remember to pack sunscreen! And my selfie stick! Ha.

  8. Excited that my dad is coming to town tonight to attend the storytelling show with me. I’ve told him so many times about how [Athena] and I go to these shows and he’s a HUGE fan of storytelling so he’s always wanted to go. We are going to make it work tonight and I’m happy that it’s going to be just him and me…father-daughter. Been a long time since we’ve done something together just the two of us.

  9. Can’t believe it’s almost Christmas. Can’t believe I haven’t planned a champagne party this year. I suppose I could do impromptu on Saturday, but I feel like everybody already has plans. Perhaps I should just start asking around? Last year’s was so much freaking fun…but the hangover was a killer!

  10. Duty calls. I need to get some things done inside the office and then I need to be out of the office this afternoon…on a mission! …in the pouring rain!
