NJM 26 - Sunday Stuff in These Foolish Things

Yesterday I spent a good portion of the day decorating my apartment. I had also sent a few texts back and forth with Steve McQueen about decorating and asking about his family stuff going on.

We then chatted about how ah-may-zing the weather has been and how it’s perfect patio weather, which prompted him to ask me if I wanted to hang out today (Sunday), maybe in the late afternoon so we could enjoy some of the delicious sunshine.

But of course!

So I told him that I was planning on going into the office for a bit in the morning but also planned to be home around noon so anytime after that would be perfect.

I got a late start, but I also got most of the things I needed to get done, done.

I won’t go into all of the details, but let’s just say I spent the evening tonight celebrating my neighbor’s birthday on the patio at the pretty fantastic Mexican restaurant a few blocks away. I was so happy because I got to meet some other neighbors, including one of the penthouse dwellers. I’d always wondered about the 2 penthouses and how they liked living there.

Had a really lovely evening.

And what of Steve McQueen?

Well, kid stuff and clearly other stuff took precedence, so I opted out of his offer to meet after the sun had already set. My whole plan was to hang out under the warm and beaming rays of sunlight and when he couldn’t work that out, I opted out. It also felt pretty clear that meeting him out meant meeting him while he was out with other people because he ALWAYS comes by and picks me up at my apartment, so this was a change in the normal M.O.

So in addition to declining, I asked him when would be a good time to pick up my sunglasses - knowing he is traveling this week.

His answer was that he’s only traveling on Monday and early Tuesday, so would dinner on Tuesday be okay? I told him kind of flatly that Tuesday would work. To which he replied that he could leave them in his mailbox if I needed them earlier.

UGH.

I replied in an easy-breezy manner, saying that, while it’s exceptionally sunny outside, I’ll surely survive and to enjoy his evening and that I’ll “C U” Next Tuesday.

I refused to let this get me down. I spent the rest of the afternoon shopping the little boutiques and shops of the artsy district across the river. It was sunny and warm and everybody was beautiful and friendly.

And then, as I said, I had a lovely dinner with my neighbors.

Anyway. Monday will be here soon enough. Where did this weekend go? In fact, where did this MONTH go? NoJoMo will soon be NoMo!
