A few years ago, almost three years ago, my family and I were on our way to New Jersey for a four day vacation. After being on the road for almost 2 hours and 10 minutes to get to our destination, the unthinkable happened. As we are driving on the third lane of a three lane highway, an SUV who was on the second lane, side bumped us and sent us flying thru three lanes of traffic and when we got to the curb, the car flipped twice.
Thankfully, thanks to God and my mother (may she Rest In Peace), nothing major happened to us. My boyfriend, who was driving, messed up his sholders due to the seat belt, my kids were more scared and scratched up from broken glass, and me, well I had a huge bump on the side of my head.
I’m sure you think the other driver who hit us stopped, think again, he or she didn’t. How do you not stop after causing such a big accident, we could of died.
Instead, the accident opened up a can worms in my head. I couldn’t get over what had happened especially after the tough year we had. The accident brought in a chain reaction on all ends. I was terrified of getting into a car, my mind was over working and stressed out between therapy, lawyers and police. Police report was incorrect, no one to sue, car totaled, boyfriend looses job a month after, I was depressed, it was a mess and still till this day, nothing has been resolved. The accident was just the beginning of my downfall.
