Why do I
Waste my want
Limited capacity
To desire for anything
On this thing
Already doomed to be
Unfulfilling

Nearly devoid of
Humanity
Yet summoning
Typical yearning
Pressing need
To be in your
Bittersweet company
Knowing full well
You hate me

Why do I
Foolishly
Waste my wanting
On unrequited loving
Begrudgingly
Bestowed
Eventually, no priority
No indication
You can see
I’m giving you
The best of me

It doesn’t amount to much
Don’t need your toes
To count me up
But
I’m all yours
I wish I was worth
Enough to earn
Gentleness or
Eager love
