Keep your mind in the company of positive thought.
It’s incredibly easy to slip. Let one foul mood feed another, and then another.
Until your sadness has its belly gorged.
Slimy and bursting at it’s seams.
Years back I stumbled upon a wandering soul.
Found a floating lightness.
Drifting like waves lull on a quiet day.
He was a mystery. Never seen face to face. Smiles as broad as the day is long in the summer.
He was leaving on a journey he has still not come back from.
One he never will come back from.
An open soul with sun drenched skin and always windswept hair.
With the heart of a bird and determination of a horse.
Our paths connected for only a short time.
We were quickly swept away into new worlds.
His feet would carry him to places I couldn’t dream.
Mine would stay firmly planted in building stability.
I’d see him smiling on mountain ranges, and deserts, and several different seas.
I tend to find beauty in restless things.
Funny things happen, and in funny timing.
It’s nice to reconnect, even if only once again, briefly.
His face has changed.
Smile so unfading I have to think he’s found something most don’t.
Older. Skin tougher. Laugh deeper. Slow talking.
Distance is nice sometimes.
