My brother lives in Tampa, he was force to evac a few days ago. They said it's at a Cat3 now, which isn't good, but it's not 'crazy sinking Florida into the ocean' deadly. My cousins also live in the "land of the mouse". From what I know, Florida is always Hurricane prepared. Just like Cali is with earthquakes, and the mid west is with tornadoes. Though those things still do massive damage, it's not like it was for Texas, where Hurricanes rarely hit, so it's unexpected and no one could have prepared old buildings or homes for that.
Wish you the best of luck and safety!
