High School Friends 8/10/2002
It's a Saturday, during my last few weeks of summer. I'm going back to school in eighteen days. I've had four months off, so I can't even say that my vacation went quickly. This summer isn't what I thought it'd be. During the year, my high school friends and I all kept in touch pretty regularly. When we came home, though, it was like we hadn't been talking all year. I slept through most of May, due to my massive lack of sleep deprivation during my final weeks at Syracuse. I did call my friends sometimes though, so I wasn't totally lazy. During June I actively called people, trying to get a group of us to go out somewhere.
Panama and I went to a movie about once a week for about a month. It was the only place she'd agree to go with me. I wanted to go down to the marina a.k.a. 'down Port,' but she said she was bored of the place. She never had money to go out to dinner, and she hated going to the mall. After awhile, we both just stopped going. I could tell she was bored, and would rather be hanging out with the high-schoolers in her neighborhood. (She tends to hang out with/date younger people ::shrugs::).
Nicole used to IM me all the time up at school that she wanted to hang out. I'd call her, and she'd never call back. Or I'd try to make plans, but she was always busy. After awhile I stopped trying.
Sonia and I have finally stopped talking after four years. The last time we hung out was in early June. I was sick with a stomach virus and there was a thunderstorm outside. She calls me up at nine o'clock at night to see if I wanted to hang out. I said that I didn't want to go out because I was sick and it was pretty bad outside. She puled a guilt trip on me saying that she was going on vacation soon, and she'd have no other days off. (That's fine, but if she knew that this was her only day off in awhile, couldn't she have called me a bit sooner??). Anyway, so when she came to the door, I asked her if she could just hang out at my house , instead of going out because I wsn't feeling well. She didn't give a reason, she just said no. I didn't ask why, because I figured, 'Hey, Sonia's my friend, I'll suck it up and just go out with her because that's what she wants to do.' We had fun that night, but it was the last time we hung out. I called her after she got home from vacation, but she never called me back. I got sick of chasing her, so I finally stopped calling. I've come to the conclusion that she's not worth the effort anymore.
Blossom and I were never close, but we did stay in touch during the school year. She would often IM me asking me what was up and that she was excited that I was coming home soon. Shortly after I got back home, I ran into her while we were picking our little brothers up from school. She asked for my number, and I gave it to her. I had said that I lost her phone number, so she said she'd give it to me when she called me. She already knew my e-mail address. She said she was having a party soon, and that she'd call me about it and let me know. Never called.
Batman, Fred, and Smurf are all the same way...Batman has her own issues, so I can't get too mad. Fred stopped talking to me for some reason because of an article that I sent to him that had the word 'JAP" in it. (Jewish American Princess). I'm Jewish, and I thought it was funny. He thought it was so distasteful that he decided to stop talking to me altogether. Nice huh? And Smurf just dropped off the face of the Earth.
cont'd (I alawys seem to write novels when I write entries..)
