H.S. Friends 5/25/2002
I don't know why, its just something about my high school friends that calms me down. Things don't seem so bad when I'm with them. For the first week I was home, I basically just stayed home because I was depressed about how my frosh year went, and because I found out my grades. Then, I went to Binghamton for a few days, and was definitely not in the mood to go anywhere.
A few days ago, I went to go and pick up Jake from elementary school and saw my h.s. friend Blossom, who'd come to pick up her brother. We talked for a little while, just to catch up on things. The reason why she didn't reply to my e-mail I'd sent her was because I sent it to the wrong address, and the reason why she didn't call me was because she didn't have my phone number. I felt better, because I was trying to figure out what her deal was. Anyway, talking to her had put me in a batter mood, so I called some more friends when I got back. Angyl and Batman and I decided to go out bowling, which I am truly horrible at, that night. I lost miserably, but it was fun just because we got to act silly.
In college I always felt that there was this pressure to act mature. People looked at me weird when they walked in and I was watching "Batman Beyond" or when we were having a movie night in Erin's room instead of going to a frat party. I like frat parties a lot, but in SU, most of them are invite-only. Plus, if you're not in the Greek scene, which the sororities decided I couldn't be, there was little chance of you finding out about frat parties anyway. When I'm home, I act how I please because my friends act in a similar way.
Anyway, so then we went to Friendly's, a cute little restaurant/ice cream shop, and afterwards we rented Monty Python's Holy Grail and watched it at Batman's house. It was just such a relaxing, fun night.
The next night Panama and I went to see "Unfaithful," whixh was such a bad wannabe porn movie. I got teased mercilessly by Panama since I was the one who picked it out. Panama's mom is a little crazy (she still enforces a midnight curfew on Pan) so we called it a night by 11:30.
Last night I decided to stay in. I bought two orgo chem books, so I could get familiar with the material before I took the class, and hopefully, get a good grade. Yeah, well, I ended up watching tv instead. I went downstairs around midnight to get a snack. Becca was out with her new boyfriend, and John was out with his almost girlfriend and his buddies. My dad was like, "Ooh, you didn't go out tonight huh? Why not?" As if I hadn't gone out the two previous nights. And should it matter? In my house, it's almost like a competition, to see who can go out with their friends the most often.
But anyway, I just wanted to give props to my friends for being so cool and fun to hang out with :O)
