Here’s a guy who I’ve communicated with on Bumble for months now. I wasn’t super into him, clearly, or we would have met much sooner, but I also feel like I gotta keep my eyes and ears open, and he agreed to meet me in my hood for coffee, a mere block from my apartment, so.
Name: Troy
Age: 51
Status: Funny, we did not discuss status. I’m assuming that he’s never been married, but that is pure assumption. I’m also assuming he has no children, based on his Instagram photos.
Job: Some kind of mortgage somethingorother.
Lives: Here’s the thing. He’s GU (Geographically Undesirable). Right now he lives about a block from where SexyPants and I used to live, which, to me is still too far away. But even worse, he’s in the process of building a house that’s about 20 miles further away! When he told me this, he even prefaced it with, “I bet you’re REALLY not going to want to see me anymore…”
Length of Date: About an hour and 45 minutes
We Did: Coffee at a brand new (and wonderful) coffee shop close to my apartment. I asked him to meet me at 8:30 on a Saturday morning, knowing he already lives 30ish minutes away. The reason I asked this of him was because I had a brunch to go to later that morning and I didn’t want to have to rush. He said he was absolutely fine with that, but I wasn’t surprised that he was late. He was ½ hour late.
He Looked: He’s a VERY nice looking man. I was very attracted to his looks, but that’s about it. His dress and his physique are exactly what I like, but the rest - eh. I think I’m saying, “eh” on purpose, and I also feel like I’m writing this RAD as a formality. Hm.
I Looked: I wore what I was going to wear to brunch: sundress and sandals. I had gotten up really early and had taken the dog for a walk and had even washed my hair…but it was really all for my brunch “date”, which wasn’t even a date.
First Impression: Much more handsome in person. Super duper nice guy.
Convo: Nice. That’s really all I can say - the guy is a nice guy, but I just wasn’t into it.
High Point: The coffee was spectacular. It was one of the best lattes I have ever had.
Low Point: When he said he was building a house even further out (which would have made it about an hour drive from me), I completely lost interest in him.
How It Ended: It started raining…and we were sitting outside (I had the dog, of course), and I’d told him I needed to go anyway because I was going to be walking to the brunch place and it was going to take me about 45 minutes to walk there. I don’t even remember if we hugged. I was in a big hurry to get out of there - especially because I had to pee really badly. In fact, I almost peed my dress after walking the ONE block to get home!
Chances Are: I don’t think so - at least not in the near future.
Date Rating: I give it a C because it was average and I was not into it.
Sorry so boring. Just needed to document this. Hoping to have more exciting things to report soon!
