Generation X 6/9/2001
I saw the movie "Pearl Harbor" tonight. During the movie, I started thinking...would our generation stand up and fight the way we did in the 1940's? I honestly don't think so.I just don't think we would show the same eagerness as we did in WWI and II if WWIII were ever to occur. We have a weak President in office, with a relatively weak army. I'm not as gung-ho as Dubya to put all the surplus money toward the military, but the military definitely needs better funding.
If a WWIII were to occur, I doubt that Germany would be the aggressors this time. If another world war occurs, I would bet anything that it would start in the Middle East. After all, history repeats itself. In World War II, problems arose mainly because of aggressive leaders like Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, and Franco. If you think about it, Hussein, Bin Laden, as well as others are similar to the agressors of the past. You have to agree that Dubya, whether you support him or not, does simply not have peace-keeping abilities with other nations that past presidents have had. He doesn't have the leadership qualities we need in case we do decide to go to war. It's a known fact that he goes to bed at 10:00 every night, no matter what. Clinton, whether you support him or not, worked until the wee hours of the morning. Clinton definitely had more of a handle on foreign affairs than Dubya has. Bush has quietly, but obviously refused to become entangled in the Israel-Palestine mess. If we are to be a world power, then we need to act like one. If there are terrorist acts being committed in other countries (especially against one of our long-time allies) we need to take action. At the very least, we need to step in as peace keepers. This is all just pure opinion though...
