The Battered Heir

The presence of kindred spirit
Issues warning to the stars –
The stars are growing
Into tears, inflicting mar.

A muffled sigh
Escapes to air,
The last breath
Of the celestial heir.

Whence comes the heir to speak?
What separates this man from weak?
Will there be whispers on night wind
Or will they follow him on whim?

To lead them from peril,
The selection begins –
The meek have perished,
Only the strong may win.

With listless avail
The cards are dealt –
The dice are rolled
The triumphant excelled.
