Long Lost Thanksgiving

On the block
Sits the turkey
Ready to be cut.
I feel the aching
Swarming in my gut.

Thankful for my family
And friends I still have.
Thankful for your thoughts
And in your love, wrapped.

And on this Thanksgiving
Don’t forget those near.
But remember, too,
The ones far away, my dear.
