Some of the preliminary results have come in about the SSM survey here in Australia and it’s looking pretty good. The ABS says that around 60% of eligible voters have returned their forms, which I believe is around 9.5 million people, give or take.
Of course the actual results of the survey won’t be available until November 15th, but from what the pre-lim results are saying, it’s looking pretty good.

I mean, naturally. I didn’t think the majority of Australians were absolute assholes. only around 20% of us are :P
I told one of my friends that I would it would be around 80/20 in favour. I don’t want to jump the gun yet until the ABS release the actual figures, and lord knows how many of these results have been tampered with.

My friend Carly rang me a few nights ago and we chatted about it for a little bit. She ended up abruptly saying goodbye to me and that she was going to bed, because I guess she didn’t feel like getting into an argument with me. Although she voted ‘Yes’, she claims that she feels that the ‘No’ voters were being bullied by the ‘Yes’-side.
Naturally, I went into defense-mode and I think she could sense the tone in my voice. I didn’t even say what I wanted to say, which was basically along the lines of, “Soooo, you mean the 25 years of bullying I’VE had to deal with means nothing compared to the few week’s of it they’ve had?”
Serves them fucking right, I say. I should be more mature about it, but fuck it’s hard to change a stubborn mind-set. They’re being bullied because they’re being labeled homophobic and bigots? Here, have a fucking mirror! Fuck me.
Anyway, she’s a straight woman and she said goodbye before I could get riled up. Of course the ‘No’ side feel bullied. They finally get a taste of what it feels like.

I just watched this awesome Youtube video that some FB ‘friends’ posted from Panti Bliss, who is an Irish drag queen.

She certainly hit the nail on the head with this one.

Sorry for the activism again. Not.

In my experience the YES side has been quite assertive in their interaction with voters. They've sent me SMS messages and knocked on our door offering to post our vote on our behalf. I understand their point of view and they're working hard to make a change, which is great. It's a bit annoying at times but change won't happen by being complaisant. So good on them for being pro-active.

I was a bit shocked how many people (they say they are yes voters) were upset by the text message they received from the yes campaign. Its only a text message who cares and apparently they were sent to random numbers
