Rainy days in Well now

Okay, it’s supposedly a bit more than rain.
It’s Tropical Depression Cindy and,
while New Orleans is not in the direct path of the storm,
it is in the dump path.
The storm is (most probably) going to hit land to the west of us,
but most of the heavy rain is occurring and should continue to occur
on the west side of the system.
So heavy rain and possible flooding in these parts.
Worried me?
Not so much.
I’m not in a flood zone.
This area of the suburbs did not flood even during Katrina.
Also, although I am on a flood street
(the local drainage is slow so that exceptionally heavy rains will flood this particular street),
my house is on pilings and even street flooding doesn’t threaten it.
The bright side?
We’ve had to cancel summer school until the storm passes.
We’re planning on resuming classes on Friday.
The children were less than upset.
The adults weren’t too sad either.
Honestly, I could get used to weeks with two week-ends.
I rather needed the extra time off it seems.
I got home from work yesterday,
went down for what I thought would be a nap at 5 pm,
and slept pretty much straight through to noon today.
I had no idea I was that wasted.
So, I’ve gotten very little done today.
Tomorrow I plan to do basically the same.
What fun is an unexpected mini-vacation without a major wastage of time?

We are always nervous about heavy rain where I am right at sea level. I'm really ready to move inland!
