Business Trip in These Foolish Things

Geez, you guys. It’s been a while since I’ve taken a legit business trip that I hardly know what I’m doing. Leaving today for the big trade show and crossing my fingers for the best. Since I haven’t taken my big China trips over the last year, nor have I done a lot of traveling domestically, I’ve lost ALL of my premium status on my preferred airline! All of it! I went from top tier to…NOTHING in the blink of an eye. You’d think that being a status member since 1993 would get me something? But I’m like 2 business trips from China away from being a million miler, which would have gotten me lifetime status.

And now, I’m a nobody. I’m super annoyed but told myself in the shower this morning not to complain and to just get over myself and enjoy this trip.

So I’m off to Florida to the big show - meetings and dinners and drinking (and even dancing!) await, and I need to get into the mood to enjoy this! Seriously, this is supposed to be the biggest event of the year in my business and I want to at least be able to smile about it, you know?

My flight isn’t until 2, so I’m in the office this morning. I’m going to see if I can delegate a bunch of stuff to the staff so that they can take care of business while I’m gone. I really, really need these peeps to step up to the plate. Really. I mean, come on.

And I need to do some reconnaissance while I’m at the show as some of this could be relevant to the “thing” I’m doing in California next month (wink, wink).

Anyway. I’m finally packed - a chore that took way too much time yesterday and early this morning. I hope I’ve packed the right stuff. The weather is iffy this time of year and it’s supposed to rain one day, which is going to throw a monkey wrench in my cute outfits. Ha.

Oh yes, we don’t have to wear the UGLY trade show uniform garb this year, and I’m thrilled about that…but that made packing so much harder! I’m crossing my fingers about the wedges I brought to wear for standing on my feet for hours and hours at a time. Wish me luck with that - they are all I’ve got!

Anyway, please send good juju out to the universe if you can. I’m trying my hardest to have a very positive attitude about this trip.

Who knows what greatness awaits. After all, remember the Icelandic pilot?? :)

Okay, gotta run. 2 more meetings this morning and then I gotta JET!!

xox,
GS
