In my private diary I write longhand which results in screeds of cursive writing which might be difficult to read in years to come. So I decided I'd type it all up but got way behind with it. Inadvertently I found this can actually be quite cathartic because I see what I was so bothered about months ago and it can sometimes be quite therapeutic to compare it to what's happening at the moment. Occasionally the opposite happens of course but I find the scales swing the other way more often.

I like to insert a photo in the entry as well because there are thousands of them dotting about on my phone and computer and I keep taking more and doing nothing with them! It's just too easy to get the phone out and press that button. So I put the photo at the top of the page, wrap the text around it, print it out and file them in a folder to be stored in a cupboard gathering dust and probably never looked at ever again!!

So every now and again I open the book I was on and do a bit of typing and this morning was just such a day and I suddenly realised the entry I was typing was about visiting my niece, Catriona, who lives about 10 minutes' drive from me, last June. She had just been signed off work with stress (she's a teacher) so we yapped some about that but also her and her husband, Mike, were going through IVF treatment and had just got to the stage of having the embryo implanted and were doing a pregnancy test on the Sunday - 4 days later! Which was beyond exciting! I wrote that it was incredible to think her whole life could change in a split second depending on that result.

As it turned out, the test was negative so before psyching themselves up for another round of treatment (it was almost the summer holidays at this point), they decided to go for a tour of the west of Scotland for a relaxing break and when they came back - bingo! Pregnant!

I've always said Scottish scenery is magical :)

So I came on here today to write the latest news in the family and was doing that in between typing up the entry and then I realised how poignant it was. In one window I was writing how Catriona was totally stressed out, desperate to get pregnant and even considering a change of career and in the other, the fact that she'd had gorgeous little baby boy by C-section (he was breech and they couldn't turn him before birth) yesterday afternoon which meant my oldest brother, Ian, became a Grandad/Grandpa at the grand old age of almost 71! His birthday is on Friday so that was a rather nice early birthday present :)

No photos as yet. Nikki is absolutely desperate to get up there to see the new babe and I'm equally desperately trying to hold her off or at least just go up on her own and I'll look after the girls at the house. Mike is going to give us a progress report after lunchtime once he sees how Catriona is today but by all accounts both new mum and babe had a decent night's sleep last night so she might be in luck.

Nikki's just sent me a pic of Lily's latest artwork and writing. I love how the only difference between Nikki & I is the hair! Although Nikki has an extra button on her dress - not sure if that's significant or not ...... And I was dead impressed with the writing until Nikki told me she'd written the 'Granny' and the 'Mummy' for her to copy! The 'Lily' is all her own though.

She bought these two cute sofas for work the other day - naturally they had to be tested out in the warehouse first!!

And I think I'll change my desktop photo to this one because these 2 cheeky wee faces will definitely cheer me up in the mornings :)
